Shawl Hermes - a fashion accessory or exhibit of a unique collection?

The Hermes handkerchief today is not just a luxury accessory, it is the most valuable exhibit of the collections, which not everyone can be proud of. The famous shawl, which became a legend, appeared in Lyons in 1937. Unexpectedly, production has gained tremendous momentum, and since that time the Hermes era has begun.

Today, each exclusive product is manufactured using a unique unique technology. The entire process begins with the work of the artist, who formalizes the idea that originated from him in a sketch and begins to develop the chosen theme. On each shawl, in addition to protecting the counterfeit Hermes inscriptions, the name of the artist must be fixed.

After the project is approved, the engraver begins work. He puts the pattern on the stencil. Each color requires a special cliche. Sometimes, in order to create one Hermes shawl, more than 40 cliches are required. Selecting them is a complicated and time-consuming task. Connoisseurs know that the smaller the pattern on the scarf, the more on the product of shades and colors, so it is more unique.

No less difficult task - the selection of colors for the pattern. This business is handled by a group of professionals. Their palette has about seventy five thousand colors, which constitute the main base. By connecting them, they get new shades. The paints are always mixed by hand. Print the picture on a roll of silk, which is stretched on a special table length of almost one hundred meters. Thus, there can be as many as 100 handkerchiefs at work.

The specialist-printer alternately, through different cliches, applies the desired colors to silk. Surplus of thick paints by hand is carefully removed. After this, a number of complex operations are performed to fix the paints.

Then comes the final stage of work - sewing the edges, which is bent to the front and manually sewn. This process takes 32 minutes. After that, the product goes to control. If any defect is seen - the handkerchief is immediately burned: the quality must always be perfect.

The Hermes scarf is a silk rectangle with sides of ninety centimeters and weighing 65 grams. Twice a year, in summer and spring, the oldest Parisian fashion house demonstrates new collections. To date, the company produces up to 40 thousand shawls a week. Each new collection consists of 12 shawls, which do not exist analogues.

The Hermes scarf requires very careful care. If it is misused, it can be spoiled. Only hand washing is allowed, subject to a number of rules:

  • Use cool water (below 30 degrees);
  • Use the means for washing silk products;
  • It is strictly forbidden to unscrew the product;
  • Rinse the handkerchief carefully;
  • Dry only on the hanger, without using clothespins;
  • Carefully monitor the temperature of the iron when ironing.

Quite often you can hear the question of how to distinguish a Hermes handkerchief-original from a fake. There are several ways for this:

  • The original scarf is made only from natural silk, the fake can be made of polyester or silk of low grades;
  • Fake will weigh less than 65 grams;
  • Can not stand the size 90x90 cm;
  • After washing, the fake is deformed, changes the structure, which does not happen with the original.

Hermes - scarves, whose price ranges from 365 to 500 $ (copies from the first collections can cost more than a thousand dollars). This is a real work of art.
