Secrets of gardening: a currant transplantation in the fall
For a long time there has been a debate among gardeners about when a currant should be transplanted - in autumn or spring. Some insist on the spring landing, basing their arguments on the fact that the young bush will have time to take root and even give shoots. Others still recommend a transplant in the fall, when the plant finished fruiting and threw off all the foliage. They explain this by saying that during a long winter period the plant will rest and early in the spring will give the first leaves and begin to bloom. In fairness, it should be noted that bushes planted in both spring and autumn are equally good. But in the spring period on the site and so much work, so sometimes I do not have time to disembark.
Having determined the terms of the currant transplantation, it is necessary to start searching for the most favorable place for the bush. It should be a site well illuminated by the sun. Black currant - the plant is extremely thermophilic, so it does not tolerate blackout. It is better not to plant it near tall fruit trees and buildings.
When choosing the time for a currant transplantation, it is necessary to take into account that this shrub has relatively shallow and very compact roots. Therefore, with strong frosts, the plant may die. Planting currants in the ground, you need to make sure that the suction roots are not more than 30 cm from the surface. This will successfully feed the bushes, because the trace elements will easily flow to the roots.
After the currant transplant was made in the fall, in the spring the plant will dissolve and blossom with renewed vigor. But the first year should be carefully monitored, so that the bush does not dry out, regularly fertilize it and, if possible, loosen the soil under it. Roots should not only receive water and minerals, but also have access to air.
