Ringworm: causes, photos and treatment

Tubular lichen is quite widespread in our country, although it is typical for residents of warm regions. Its aggravation most often occurs in the summer. This disease is called in different ways, for example, the sunshine, as well as the multicolored, or otrubrious. Suffer from him mostly teenagers and young men. Consider this pathology in more detail.

Causes of the disease

Lichen (tubular, multicolored) arises from yeast fungi of the genus Malassezia, which can also be found on healthy skin. For growth, they need lipids, so there are a lot of them around the ducts of the sebaceous glands. These fungi are conditionally pathogenic and are able to stay on the skin for a long time, not manifesting themselves in any way. Their activation occurs as a result of a decrease in immunity and the appearance of favorable conditions for them.

It was observed that tubal cancellation occurs in persons suffering from excessive sweating. Also, the disease develops because of high air humidity, impaired personal hygiene, imperfection of the autonomic nervous system, wearing synthetic clothing. In addition, lichen can occur due to excessive sunburn, frequent use of antibacterial gels or soap.

This pathology often accompanies people with diabetes, tuberculosis, seborrhea, rheumatism, as well as with diseases of the intestine, stomach, heart and blood vessels. It was found that tubal lichen occurs as a result of treatment with corticosteroids and the intake of hormonal contraceptives. It is not excluded and hereditary predisposition.

Symptoms of the disease

Due to the fact that yeast fungi contribute to the loosening of the stratum corneum of the epidermis and disrupt the formation of the melanin pigment, which determines the color of the skin, pink, brown, pinkish-yellow or light brown spots appear on it. These rashes and are deprived. The outlines of the spots are clear, with uneven edges. They can look like papules that protrude slightly above the surface of the skin.

First, the spots are small, but gradually they start to increase and even merge with each other. On their surface there is an easy peeling. These spots are very noticeable on the skin, because they differ from it by their color.

Tubular lichen in a person is rarely accompanied by itching or burning. If such symptoms appear, it indicates the attachment of a bacterial flora. Most often this disease affects the skin of the back, shoulders, chest, abdomen, neck, ie, places where there are many sebaceous glands. Much more rarely, lichen occurs on the face, in the armpit, inguinal areas, the scalp. Penetrates the fungus into the sebaceous glands and hair follicles, which makes it difficult to conduct treatment. As a result, the course of the disease is long-lasting with constant relapses.

How is the disease diagnosed?

Tinea tubular is diagnosed by the following methods:

  • External examination and conduct of the Balzer test. After the examination, the detected foci of lichen are smeared with an alcohol solution of iodine. In some cases aniline dyes are used instead of it , as a result of which the lesions are painted much stronger than healthy skin.
  • Determination of the symptom of "chips". This method consists in the fact that if the spots are discarded carefully with a scalpel, their peeling increases.
  • Examination of the skin under the fluorescent lamp of Wood. It is conducted by a dermatologist in order to identify atypical skin lesions, which are not visible to the naked eye. Under the light of the lamp, the foci depriving them fluoresces with a dark brown, red-yellow or greenish color.
  • A laboratory study of epidermis scales under a microscope, which were obtained as a result of scraping from the lesion focus. If the result is positive, then the threads of pseudomycelia and spores of yeast fungi will be clearly visible.

Tineal tubal: treatment

The age of the disease, its types, the area of the lesion of the skin determine what treatment will be prescribed. If the skin is affected less than 18 percent, and the pathology has arisen comparatively recently, then exclusively external means are prescribed. At the same time, not only the affected skin is treated, but also healthy in those places where tubular lichen usually develops.

How to treat this disease, by what means? At present, sufficiently effective antifungal drugs are used for this:

  • Antimycotic shampoos, which contain fungicidal agent ketoconazole;
  • Antifungal sprays;
  • Antifungal creams.

If you deprive a tubular person for more than two years, then treatment with external means alone will not bring any result. In this case, the doctor usually prescribes systemic antifungal drugs, which are also used for people whose skin is infected by depriving more than 18 percent. These can include drugs such as Fluconazole and Intraconazole, which shorten treatment time and prevent relapse.

During the treatment, it is necessary to change linens and clothes every day, and the bed linen is boiled in a soap-soda solution. Patients should not experience stress and fatigue, be on a strong cold and heat, and also wear synthetics.

Such treatment is usually effective, but hypopigmentation of the skin persists for a long time.

Prevention

To prevent relapses, it is necessary to rub the skin with acidified water or salicylic alcohol in the heat, because the alkaline reaction of sweat provokes the reproduction of the fungus. Once every 1.5-2 months, antifungal drugs should be used. You should try to sweat as little as possible and keep your clothes and clothes clean.

Conclusion

Tubular lichen, whose photo is far from aesthetic, is a rather unpleasant phenomenon. If the skin is affected sufficiently strongly, then the treatment is long, there may be relapses. Therefore, when symptoms of such a disease appear, it is necessary to consult a doctor, as timely treatment guarantees complete healing.
