Review of the restyling off-road vehicle "Opel Antara"

In 2007, the European concern Opel decided for the first time to try itself in the class of full-size SUV SUV class, releasing its new car called Opel Antara. Unfortunately, the first pancake was a lump for German developers, so in 2010, engineers seriously engaged in finalizing the jeep. Last year the novelty was finally ready for sales, and it has been exactly one year since its debut. Well, let's find out whether the restyled version of the Opel Antara SUV has the right to exist.

Appearance

Initially, the SUV was designed on the basis of the American car Chevrolet Captiva. Thanks to this, the Germans managed to create a true all-wheel-drive jeep (although there are also front-wheel modifications), and not a car in the off-road "skin". As for the restyling itself, here the essential changes in appearance are almost imperceptible. The updated "Opel Antara" received another form of bumper, a new optics and a more impressive grille with a wide chrome strip. The relief wheel arches in combination with wide nineteen-inch cast wheels and underrun protection create the appearance of a real SUV. Although the "front end" is somewhat reminiscent of the design of "Opel Astra", but this is nothing compared to the twenty-centimeter clearance of the novelty. What car or even a crossover can boast of such data?

Vehicle interior

Inside, everything is done fairly modestly, without pathos and chic. The plastic is a bit rough to the touch, the center console with side deflectors of a round shape is made quite standard for a European car. But it was not without features. The drivers note the availability of a convenient and functional steering wheel, which has the ability to control the radio. The instrument panel, despite its "fresh" appearance, is quite readable and informative. On it there are no extra scales and arrows, which could be distracting the driver from driving.

Opel Antara: characteristics of engines

Unlike the exterior, serious updates touched the line of engines. Thus, Russian buyers can purchase a single power unit of four. Among them is worth noting two gasoline engines with a capacity of 170 and 249 horsepower and a working volume of 2.4 and 3.0 liters. By the way, the first unit came to replace the old 140-horsepower engine with the same working volume.

As for diesel engines, there will be two in Russia. The first with its working volume of 2.2 liters produces 163 horsepower of power. The second has a similar volume, but its capacity is 184 "horses".

Opel Antara - 2013: price

At the moment, the SUV is sold in two trim levels: "Cosmo" and "Enjoy". The cost of the latter is about 1 million 20 thousand rubles. "Cosmo" -variant will cost customers 1 million 215 thousand rubles. Given the updated line of engines, beautiful appearance and competitive price, you can predict the novelty of a successful future for at least five to six years.
