Review of the movie "The Body of Jennifer": actors, story, critics' reviews

The picture "The body of Jennifer" is well known to fans of horror and black comedies. The film premiered in October 2009. The main roles were performed by the famous Hollywood actors Amanda Seyfried, Megan Fox and Johnny Simmons.

Cast

The role of Jennifer, the main character of the film, was performed by Megan Fox, the star of the franchise Transformers. Negotiations with the actress about her participation in the film began in 2007, long before the work on the project. Megan liked the script, and she agreed to participate in the film.

Her best friend, Nidi, a quiet and shy girl, was played by one of the brightest Hollywood actresses, Amanda Seyfried. It was approved for the role of Nidi in February 2008. The actress was pleased with her role and said that playing Jennifer for her would have been much more difficult.

Johnny Simmons was approved for the role of Chip, Nidi's boyfriend. The actor before played in the movies "Hotel for Dogs" and "Evan Almighty", but "Body Jennifer" can be considered the most famous project with his participation.

Kyle Gallner and Chris Pratt also received small roles in the movie "The Body of Jennifer." The actors played Colin Gray, classmate of Nidi, and a police officer, respectively.

The director was Karin Susama, who previously worked on a fantastic action film "Eon Flux" and the sports drama "Women's Fight". "Jennifer's Body" is the third full-length film in her career.

The script for the film was written by Diablo Claudy, known as the screenwriter and producer of the teenage drama "Juneau".

The soundtrack to the painting was created by the beginning composer Stephen Barton.

Plot

Events take place in a provincial American town. Jennifer Chek is the most popular girl in school, the captain of the support team, the dream of all the guys. Nidi, her best friend, is quite different - she is a quiet, modest, not very attractive girl.

Once Jennifer offers Nydi to go to a rock concert in a local bar to somehow have fun. But during the concert there is a tragedy - the bar starts a fire and several people die. Jennifer leaves the scene of the tragedy with the guys from the rock band. Soon she returns and starts to behave very unusual. Nidi suspects that something bad has happened to her friend, and tries to find out what happened that night.

Meanwhile, the town is covered by a series of brutal murders, to which Jennifer has the most direct relationship.

Criticism

The picture received mostly negative reviews of critics. It was noted that the film "Jennifer's Body" was not funny enough for a comedy and not terrifying enough for a horror.

Critic Joshua Rozkopf in his review sharply criticized the picture, in particular the character of Nidi. Michael Sragou noted that the only advantage of the film is its name. The famous film critic Roger Edger called the painting "The Body of Jennifer" "Twilight" for the guys.

As it usually happens, the audience was less categorical in their responses. From them the film received mixed reviews and average ratings on movie sites.

Played in the movie "The Body of Jennifer" the actors were nominated for several film awards. Megan Fox almost got "Golden Raspberry" for her, and Amanda Seifred received the MTV channel award for best funk.

Boxing-office

The film's budget was $ 16 million, almost a third of which went to Megan Fox's fee. Despite the fact that critics defeated the film "The Body of Jennifer," the actors who played the main roles in the film saved her from a cash fail. The box office exactly doubled the budget and amounted to 32 million dollars.
