Reserves of the Volgograd Region: detailed description

The Volgograd Region of Russia is located in the south-west of the country. On its territory 7 natural parks are equipped. The article describes some reserves of the Volgograd region.

Tsimlyansk Sands

These picturesque places are located in the valley of the river Tsimly.

The land of the reserve is not covered by vegetation completely due to the fact that under the influence of local strong enough winds, the sands are constantly fluttering. In the park under the influence of the waters of the Don formed a kind of sandy terraces in the form of hills and hillocks.

On larger ridges you can see the most real dunes. Vegetation here is poor. In these places can grow only those herbs that have developed adaptability to free-flowing sands in the form of long roots (sandworm, gigantic, wheatgrass). It is amazing to combine barkhans with representatives of desert animals (spiders, snakes, lizards) and plains with northern representatives of the flora. In the lowlands grow birch and alder picks, peat moss.

In numerous estuaries and lakes, different waterfowl are very well. Tsimlyansk reservoir is an important maternity home for valuable fish.

Unusual for this area is a herd of wild mustangs. Regardless of the fact that in these places people live and danger comes from them, Mustangs feel like at home.

"Nizhnehopersky"

Some reserves of the Volgograd region are very young. For example, the Nizhnehopersky nature protection facility was established in 2003. It is located in the west of the region. The Hoper River flows through the grounds of the reserve.

These places are at a great distance from the industrial center of the region, so it was possible to preserve a diverse nature. The park is like a museum in the open air, because here in its original form there have been preserved areas of wild fields since the ancient times of the residence of Pechenegs and Polovtsians.

In the famous Shakinskaya oak forest with a "boiling spring" relic trees grow, which are about 400 years old. Interesting for tourists are the floating islands on Lake Babinsky. Many here are picturesque lakes and floodplain meadows. Only the most pleasant impressions of tourists leaves Koshav-gora. It is the highest point in the reserve, which is located on the right bank of Khopra.

In the park grows a large number of representatives of the plant world. Among them: peony thin-leaved, water chestnut chillim, cornflower oriental and others. Of animals, many mammals, amphibians and reptiles live here. Interesting bats, gophers, garden dormouse. Of predators - fox, wolf, raccoon dog. A huge number of birds have found their shelter here, this is an eagle, a pheasant, a gray and white heron, and others.

Donskoy

The wonderful reserves of the Volgograd region have already been described above. Donskoy is one of them. It was established in 2001 with an environmental purpose.

The territory of the park is relatively small, it is located at the junction of natural zones - steppes and semi-deserts, namely in the bend of the Don. This mighty river is one of the main natural attractions of the reserve. In addition to this pond, there are many other lakes and ponds.

The nature of this reserve is extremely diverse. Here you can admire the huge chalky mountains, deep ravines, canyons, steppes, overgrown fescue and feather grass, floodplain and mountain forests, flood meadows.

In the mountains and now you can find the remains of ancient fish and reptiles.

The park is famous for its springs with the purest water, which has low stiffness and weak mineralization, which gives it a special unique taste.

Special pleasure will be enjoyed by fishing enthusiasts. On the river Don are many overgrown reeds, deep whirlpools, old people, floodplain lakes, which are an excellent place for catching catfish and carp.

Here are preserved such representatives of the animal world, which are on the verge of extinction. This is a white-tailed eagle, a desman, a bustard, a bustard, an owl and others.

Shcherbakovsky

The park was established in 2003 and is located in the northern part of the region. It should be noted that the Shcherbakovsky park is the smallest of the seven large nature reserves in the area.

This park is unique in that it is closely intertwined with a variety of natural areas. You can see here and the steppe, and forest-steppe, and deserts, and semi-deserts. All this affected the variety of plants and animals.

All the nature reserves of the Volgograd region amaze with a variety of flora and fauna. Park "Shcherbakovsky" - not an exception. About 500 species of plants are recorded in the valley of the Shcherbakovka River. Many of them are rare.

Ust-Medveditsky

Comparing the reserves of the Volgograd region, we can say that "Ust-Medveditsky" is the youngest in these places, located in the southeast of the region. Many different rivers and streams flow along the grounds of the reserve. The most famous are Don, Medveditsa and Hoper.

In the park, many plants grow, of which about 300 species are rare - orchids, cornflower Dubyansky and others. In the flood plain of the Don you can see delicate white water lilies.

The uniqueness of local places is also in their natural and archeological sights. Travelers can visit the Cold ravine, in the Pahom cave, on the Pyramid mountain with the Bowed Cross, on the Princely Lake.
