Repair of the pumping station: the most common problems and solutions

Automation of pumping stations is a prerequisite for the uninterrupted supply of country estates with drinking water from wells and wells. In the absence of centralized water supply, this scheme has a number of features related to ensuring the stable operation of the electromechanical components of the pumping station.

Pump station operation principle

Taking water for domestic needs leads to a decrease in working pressure in the network, and the automation includes a pump that pumps water from a natural source. The resulting overload is borne by the hydraulic accumulator, which works in conjunction with the on / off automatic control of the pump stopping operation, once the pressure in the system is restored. The frequency of switching on and off the pump and the automation should be as small as possible in order to maximize their service life. This will mean the accident-free operation of the pumping station itself.

However, the owner of a country residence should be prepared to find the cause and repair the pumping station in case of a malfunction. Below are considered the main features of emergency situations and actions according to them.

1. The station is working. The pump turns on. Water does not swing

Check the tightness of pipelines, the filling of the pump with water, the serviceability of the check valve. Check the presence of water in the well or well. It is possible to produce a large amount in the gap between the impeller and pump casing (replace parts or the entire pump). Low voltage in the network is also possible.

2. The station is working. The pump turns on very often. Water sways

Check the dynamics of the manometer reading. If there is a sudden drop in pressure until the moment of switching on:

  • There was a rupture of the membrane (diaphragm) of the accumulator, you need a replacement;
  • There is not sufficient air pressure in the accumulator tank ; To prove or repair the leak;
  • The pressure switch that the pump is on / off is faulty.

3. The station is working. The pump turns on. Water goes on intermittently

Suspicion of air sucking. Check the water level in the well or well, the pipe joints.

4. The station is working. The water is coming. The pump does not shut down

Repair of the pumping station consists in adjusting the pressure switch to set new values for the upper and lower limits at which the pump turns on / off. It may be necessary to clean the relay inlet, clogged with salts.

5. Station does not work - pump does not turn on

Check the power supply of the station. Inspect contacts on pressure switches and clean them if they are burnt. Check the motor. The characteristic smell of burning insulation will clearly indicate its failure. In this case, the repair of the pumping station must be carried out only by specialists.

6. The station does not work - the pump hums, but does not turn on

Most likely, the pumping station was stored all winter in a room that was not too well adapted for this purpose. The impeller of the station, which remained for a long time without movement, and "in the absence of water" was "stuck" to the hull. Repair of the pumping station in this case is simple: turn off the pump, rotate the impeller manually and re-plug into the network.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the automation of the pumping station helps to maintain the optimal parameters of its operation without the constant attention to it, while maintaining the same pressure in the homeowners' network as in the urban centralized water supply systems.
