Pruning peaches. Peach care in autumn

To a peach yielded a high yield, it is necessary to properly form its crown. To do this, trim it. Since the peach is a light-loving plant, its pruning makes it possible to form a well-lit tree shape in the form of a bowl.

Crown formation

In the bowl-shaped crown there is no central conductor. These are three or four skeletal branches that come out from the bottom of the tree. Already in the spring after planting they make a bookmark. The peach seedlings are cut at a height of 80 cm, leaving about 20 cm for the skeletal branches and 60 cm for the stem. If the tree has lateral branches, then only three or four strong shoots are left, cutting them to a length of 15 cm. Subsequently, the skeletal branches will form from these stems. Weak shoots just shorten, leaving two or three buds.

The remaining branches are cut with the conductor. In the summer it is necessary to follow the shape of the tree and break down vertically growing shoots. Next year, the skeletal branches laid in the crown of the peach are cut in such a way that they are of equal length. And out of the emerging stalks are formed two buds, from which later appear new shoots. Shoots that grow in summer on skeletal branches and stems, remove, leaving up to 10 cm pruning the peach prevents thickening of the crown.

In the third year, strong shoots are selected, located at a distance of half a meter from the base of the skeletal branches, they are shortened to 50 cm. These are additional shoots of the second plan. A year later, branches of the third order are laid and the shoots growing down are removed. Only for the fifth year pruning peaches helps to form the crown by laying skeletal branches.

Fruit bearing trees

The tree begins to bear fruit on the annual growths that were formed in the previous year. Since many flower buds are laid annually, it is necessary to shorten or thin out shoots, otherwise the peach will be overloaded with fruits, which will affect their quality. During thinning, all growing stems are removed, leaving them a short distance from each other. Shorten and conductors of skeletal branches, they translate into lateral increments. Pruning peaches after the last frost. If a tree has a lot of ovaries, they are also thinned out. Do this when the fruit reaches 2 cm in diameter. If you shake the skeletal branches, the underdeveloped ovaries will begin to crumble. After that, remove the weak drupes. The optimal distance between the fruits of the early varieties is 8 cm, the average and late ones are about 12 cm.

Rejuvenating pruning

Depending on the plant variety, the fruiting period lasts only 10-12 years. However, the tree yield can be extended by rejuvenating pruning. First of all, the tree is examined, as it must have a healthy stem and lower skeletal branches. Only then does peach pruning take place. The scheme presented in this article will clearly show how this is done. First, remove all the dried branches. Cut them near young shoots, which in the future will be the main shoots. The diseased tree is not rejuvenated, it is cut off without any rules, in order to obtain a high yield for a while.

Planting a peach

Depending on the cultivation zone, the plant is planted in two periods - in autumn and spring. Autumn planting is carried out only in the southern regions of the country, since the freezing of the seedling in winter is undesirable. In the climatic conditions of the middle belt of Russia and the northern part of Ukraine it is preferable to plant a peach (tree) in spring. The photos accompanying this article will clearly show how to properly distribute and cultivate it.

How to plant a peach in autumn

Before planting a seedling, the soil around it is compacted. In order for the root system to develop naturally, one should not allow free space near it. By spring, the roots are formed and strengthened, which eliminates the regular watering of young trees. Pruning peaches in autumn is an important point. As mentioned above, this is necessary to form the main branches of the future crown.

Before planting a seedling, a pit of 60 cm depth is prepared. A fertile soil containing humus and microelements with the addition of wood ash to enrich the soil is poured into it.

To protect the root system, a 10 cm high mound is made, then the tree is poured with three buckets of water. It is very important not to fill the seedling immediately, the liquid is poured gradually, as it is absorbed. Then the elevation is brought to 30 cm. To protect the peach from wind and frost, a polyethylene bag is put on it and bent to the ground with pegs. Thus, the seedling will be protected from adverse weather conditions and rodents.

Prune peeling in autumn

Peach - this is the fruit that no one who is engaged in independent harvesting can pass by. Juicy pulp and real nectar attract true connoisseurs of delicious fruits. Gardeners know that the peach tree needs careful care in the fall. After all, this is the pledge of a new abundant harvest. The main enemies of the plant are various diseases and parasites. Cockcomicosis, klyasterosporiosis, aphids make the tree weaker, prevent the accumulation of strength in the winter, which leads to a poor harvest. Therefore, peach care in autumn is very important. The tree needs regular feeding, spraying, watering and permanent protection. However, these procedures must be performed according to the instructions. If, after harvesting, the leaves on the tree remained healthy, they do not need to be removed from the ground in the fall, as they remarkably fertilize the soil. The affected leaves should be urgently removed. Proper care for the peach in autumn will be rewarded with a high and high-quality harvest.

How to Plant a Peach in Spring

In spring, not all gardeners can buy quality seedlings. For this reason, young trees are acquired in the autumn and buried for the winter. With the onset of spring, gardeners begin to plant a peach. It is also recommended that the pit be excavated in autumn. Fertile land is mixed with humus and mineral fertilizers, and the soil from the bottom of the pit is removed. If left for the whole winter such a useful composition of the soil, complete dissolution of mineral and organic fertilizers is achieved. In spring it remains only to plant a tree.

It is very important that the plant is well illuminated by the sun and protected from the northern winds. Excellent protection will be the wall of the building, a fence or a hedge. In order to stimulate the development of lateral roots, they are refreshed before planting. After sprinkling with the soil, the plant is watered and does this regularly until it has taken root in the new soil.

Is it possible to grow a peach from a bone?

Enjoying the aroma of fresh peaches, many ask the question: "Is it possible to grow a miracle tree in your garden, where to buy quality seedlings, will a full-grown tree grow from seed?" To avoid such questions, you just need to roll up your sleeves and try to grow a peach from the bone.

First of all, choose peaches, adapted for our area. Alien varieties are unlikely to take root, because they are not winter hardy. The stone for the planting of the seedling is taken from a juicy ripe fruit, there should be no defects and pests in it. Well, if you know the information about the selected fruit, on which tree it grew - grafted or proprietary. In the latter species, the yield and characteristics are much higher. In addition, the grafted tree can grow vapourless.

Having decided upon the choice of the seed, proceed to planting. For safety, a few extra seeds are planted. They are soaked for a week (water is changed every day), then carefully dried to prevent damage to the inside, and planted in the open ground to a depth of 8 cm. Planting is carried out in autumn, away from adult trees. The land should be well-fertilized, loose and soft.

First, the bone forms a root, later the stem is formed. In the spring, shoots appear. It is during this period that the peach is gaining strength, caring for it consists in intensive watering and feeding. By autumn the seedling grows up to 1-1.5 m, lateral branches appear on it. As soon as the height of the trunk reaches 70 cm, the crown of the future tree is formed. Peach pruning is performed next spring. Leave the healthy branches, and the sick and frozen frozen. A year later the young tree is transplanted to a permanent place and the first three years are insulated for the winter period.

A peach tree grown from seedlings gives fruit earlier than from a stone. In our climatic conditions, you can get a full crop for 12 years.
