Cracked varnish in manicure

Today, perhaps, only a person very far from the world of decorative cosmetics and not interested in novelties in the world of beauty did not hear about the cracking varnish, or in another way - craquelure, from the French "craquelure" - a crack in the paint on the canvas. Although this novelty has already firmly entered our life, let's get acquainted with this varnish, around which there are many legends.

Cracked varnish can be conditionally divided into 2 types:

  • So-called "filamentous" lacquer, which after application forms very thin cracks, there is practically no base lacquer visible through them;
  • The second kind is sometimes called "fence" because the cracks are large and the main tone can be clearly seen through them. In this case, it is the contrast of the base and the coating that creates a unique and unique effect of manicure.

Most of the myths surrounding this novelty came about because people simply did not know how to apply the cracking varnish correctly. So, let's consider the stages of application of varnish in order.

  • The first thing you need to clean the nail and degrease it, otherwise the main lower tone very quickly peels off, even if you use for this purpose, a persistent nail polish.
  • Apply a basic, basic tone to the clean nail. Before the beginning of the manicure, carefully consider combinations of colors.

Important! Wait until the first layer dries completely before applying craquelure. If the lacquer base is not completely dry, then the craquelure will not give the desired cracks, but simply lie on top of another layer of varnish.

  • Apply a cracked varnish in a thin layer, leaving a slightly visible base tone. We wait for complete drying.
  • We fix the coating with a layer of colorless varnish.

Important! In order to achieve the effect of a fine mesh from the cracks, take
Brush the minimum amount of lacquer. So the layer of craquelure will turn out thin, hence, on the nails will remain a threadlike pattern.

An important role in craquelure is played by color. With the help of a successful combination of colors you can make both a sharp and aggressive manicure, and more traditional and feminine. If you want to create an image in the Art Nouveau style, it is better to use contrasting colors of dark tones, for example, yellow and blue, pink and dark green. If you want to create a more classic image, then choose colors that are combined with each other at least in nature. A successful solution is the application of almost any color on a white base. Also, silver tones and varnishes with sparkles are well suited as a base. For a base, the Chanel nail polish is excellent for its excellent durability. In this case, the price justifies the quality of the coating.

Important point: you can not apply a cracked varnish to a clean nail without a base. The fact is that the varnish simply does not give cracks. In addition, it will be more like a shabby and sloppy manicure.

It is also not recommended to use a lacquer of earthy color, since, most likely, the effect of cracked earth will be obtained. Other frankly unsuccessful combinations include red and blue, red and green, as well as orange and blue. Alternatively, you can combine different shades of the same color, for example, dark red and pink.
