Prevention of drug addiction in the educational environment. International Day Against Drug Abuse

The problem of drug use is one of the most urgent in the modern world. She did not bypass Russia either. The country is constantly increasing the non-medical use of psychotropic substances, and especially in the youth and adolescent environment.

The situation is so acute that it requires active and decisive action. And the initial stage of the fight against this problem is the prevention of drug addiction in the educational environment.

The cause of the problem

Teenage drug addiction has spread as a result of the multifaceted crisis of public life that has engulfed our country. The cause of this problem was also:

  • Unstable social and economic conditions of the population, which gave rise to uncertainty in the future, destroyed common and traditional ideals;
  • The growth of crime;
  • War;
  • Depreciation of human life.

Prevention of drug addiction and school

The main features of a person's character are formed in early childhood. This is preschool and junior school age. In this period it is important for the child to have the right effect. All the rules and norms he has learned by a small man will carry through his life. One of the parts of the educational process should be the prevention of drug addiction in the educational environment. Unfortunately, at present the harmful habit associated with the abuse of psychotropic substances has an epidemic scale. And there is a constant further spread of this phenomenon.

In this regard, the prevention of drug addiction in the educational environment is of great importance. It provides for a whole range of measures aimed at preventing the occurrence of this phenomenon.

Drug dependence is a special condition when a person constantly thinks about the dose and seeks to get it to eliminate mental discomfort. For the sake of the feeling of euphoria, such people go for anything. They easily cross the limits of moral norms, destroy their families, commit any crimes, including murders. All the interests of the addict are reduced only to the extraction and subsequent use of psychotropic substances. That is why in the circle of his communication are, as a rule, only antisocial personalities. Society seeks to return such people to a full life and reduce the growth of drug addiction.

An important role for solving this problem is assigned to the school. Prevention of drug addiction and substance abuse among adolescents is of great importance. And this is not surprising. It's teenagers who are most often the victims of harmful addictions. Prevention of drug addiction in the educational environment is designed to influence the formation of the child's own opinion. A teenager should have a clear idea of psychotropic substances, their effects on the body, and also about the consequences of their use.

The fight against drug addiction in school is a primary preventive measure. It is aimed at working with children who have no experience of taking psychoactive substances. The task of teachers is to create personal immunity in adolescents, aimed at opposing the reception of the first dose.

In today's world, people spend their time on getting their livelihood. Parents have no time to monitor changes in the behavior of children and the emergence of danger signals. This task is taken on by the teachers, because most of their active time the child spends in school.

Fundamentals of pedagogical prevention

The fight against drug addiction within the walls of an educational institution sets itself the task of forming among adolescents and young people the following:

  • Universal human values;
  • Skills and knowledge of psychological protection against involvement in antisocial activities;
  • Healthy lifestyle.

Primary prevention of drug addiction in educational institutions focuses not on the problem itself and its consequences, but on the disclosure and development of the resources of the individual and the psyche, as well as assisting the young person in self-realization of his personality. The school is designed to educate students in such a way that they can independently cope with their life problems and psychological difficulties without taking drugs. And only mentally healthy and developed personality is capable of this.

Modern anti-drug training

Earlier pedagogical prophylaxis was the education in the child of certain patterns and standards of behavior. Today this is not enough. The current anti-drug training is designed to create settings that children must form independently. However, work on the prevention of drug addiction should exclude the opposite effect of increased interest. In other words, the information that is communicated to the student should be selected in such a way that it does not provoke the child's search activity and does not raise a desire to verify the authenticity of the information from his own experience. The data given on the effects of certain drugs on the human body should not indicate the likelihood of a fatal outcome. Otherwise, it can provoke the child to the real actions of suicide.

The purpose of carrying out preventive measures is the creation of personal immunity to the reception of the first dose, not only at the level of understanding, but also at the level of emotions and sensations coming from the subconscious. How to achieve this result? To do this, you need to introduce into the daily process of pedagogical work elements of unobtrusive impact on students.

Basic Skills Training

Prevention of drug addiction in the school should form in the student:

  • Self-preservation skills (do not drink accidentally unknown medicine, do not become a passive smoker, avoid contact with drug addicts);
  • Emotional rejection of the so-called narcotic behaviors (people who use psychotropic drugs, pathetic and sick, and like them to be unprestigious);
  • The realization that the transition to a state of dependence is swift and invisible (some people need only use the dose once);
  • Own life position which will allow to outline the circle of interests and to build up with positive attitudes or relations without help of a wine-glass or a cigarette;
  • The ability to defend your point of view in any situation.

Conducting conversations

Lecture is the main event for the prevention of drug addiction in an educational institution. Her goal is humane. Children listen to the story of drugs and their harm. However, often a teacher tries to describe the state that a person who uses drugs is trying to experience. It happens that some students concentrate on this. Hearing about the positive effects of drugs, they have a desire to experience this condition. That is why when considering the topic "Prevention of drug addiction", experts propose to discuss the problem in a discussion form.

Conducting a class hour

Prevention of drug addiction and substance abuse in school should be carried out by the efforts of educators. One of the means that a teacher should take on his armament is the class hour. "Addiction and its harmful effects on people" is a topic that should be considered during its conduct. It is advisable to invite police and medical personnel to this event. They will hold mini-lectures for children about how harmful drugs are. This will get the maximum positive effect of the event.

A teacher of any profile can quite and independently conduct such a class hour. Addiction should be the main topic of the conversation. It is desirable to have visual aids. Posters for drug addiction can be prepared by the guys themselves. For a better understanding of the severity of the problem, it is desirable to show a documentary film or slides.

Conducting a thematic day

It will not be superfluous to carry out an activity on the prevention of drug abuse in the school system. To do this, organize a thematic day dedicated to the problem. Students should also participate in the event. They can be entrusted with the task of preparing drawings on this topical topic. The result of children's creativity does not hurt to ask the school psychologist. The specialist will be able to fully assess the education of students on this issue and identify existing gaps in knowledge.

Work with parents

The family should show the greatest interest in the results of the upbringing and development of the child. However, most parents view drug addiction as an individual problem that exists in individuals. Often, fathers and mothers are mistakenly convinced that the misfortunes that psychotropic drugs bring to mankind will not affect their child in any way. Sometimes the adult population lacks basic skills and knowledge on this topic. It also does not allow to have the necessary educational impact on the child.

There are also parents who are trying to hide the fact of using drugs by their child. They divert their child to specialists engaged in private practice, but this further exacerbates the problem.

From all of the above, it can be concluded that part of the prevention of children's drug addiction is to conduct explanatory work with parents. The main directions of such activities are as follows:

  • The formation of an active family relationship to the narcotization of their child;
  • Taking precautionary measures to prevent the appearance of a harmful habit;
  • Organization of a safe environment, in which there is intolerance to drugs.

The main objective of the work of school teachers with parents of students is to familiarize dads and mothers with the psychological characteristics that the child has, as well as explaining the correct ways of behavior during family conflicts that predetermine the behavior of adolescents.

The teacher's task is also to help parents understand the social and environmental resources available in the family. This will help close people overcome problems related to relationships. Using this knowledge, parents themselves determine the strategy and direction of their actions.

The organization of preventive anti-drug work with parents of students is done by the deputy director for educational work, as well as the school psychologist, class teachers, social educators and attracted lecturers-specialists. At the same time, each of the employees performs their task in this process. Thus, representatives of the administration of the educational institution control and coordinate all preventive work. At the same time, teachers who have more close contact with schoolchildren and their parents organize extra-curricular activities and highlight the problem of drug addiction in the classroom.

Do not stand aside and the school doctor. It is an important link in preventive anti-drug work, being an advisory point for parents, teachers and children. The school psychologist provides active support of the pedagogical process. This specialist provides feasible psychological assistance to students and their parents.

In the organization of drug abuse prevention, the bodies of student self-government also participate. They conduct sociological research, create volunteer movements and actively participate in all anti-drug activities.

International Day against Drugs

Many ills bring psychotropic drugs to mankind. How to stop the epidemic of the century? For this, there are special services. In a tribute to all those who did not bow their heads before the disaster and try to prevent its inevitability, the International Day against Drug Abuse is celebrated in all countries of the world. It is held on June 26. The day was approved by the UN General Assembly in 1987. This decision was made with the aim of proving that the world society aspires to live without dependence on psychotropic substances.

The struggle against drugs mankind has long been. Ways to restrict imports from Asian countries, these substances were sought by representatives of 13 countries as far back as 1909, when they gathered at a meeting of the Shanghai Opium Commission. Unfortunately, the problem does not go away with the years, but it becomes more acute. Opium replaced drugs of a more severe type, which began to be used intravenously. Anxiety is caused by the fact that along with its spread, the disease becomes younger. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health, today there are 400,000 addicts in Russia. However, experts believe that this figure is much larger.

Almost all students of major universities in the country know whoever sells drugs, and where you can take the next dose, and 25% of Moscow schoolchildren reported during a questionnaire that they had tried psychotropic substances before the age of 15.

World experience convincingly shows that prohibitive measures do not help to stop this evil. That is why the slogans that the International Day Against Drug Addiction puts forward each year are not prohibitive. For example, in 1999, the event was covered by the words "Music against drugs", and in 2001 - "Sport against drugs". On this International Day, the United Nations pays special attention to the fact that teachers, families and children should recognize the existence of the problem and take all possible preventive measures to prevent its spread.
