Addiction and Substance Abuse

In the 21st century, the problem of drug abuse in countries around the world is particularly acute. This issue focuses on the public attention, however, mankind is unlikely to completely overcome this disease in the coming years. Addiction and substance abuse are popular topics in print and television programs. Researchers are trying to find out where the source of the disease's origin lies - in order to prevent its spreading further.

Unfortunately, unlike the fight against drunkenness, such centralized, large-scale and consistent measures are not being taken to prevent the spread of diseases such as drug addiction and substance abuse. At the same time, in recent years there has been a tendency for drug addiction to prevail over alcoholism among the population. Increasingly, new forms of manifestation of such pathological conditions are found and fixed in medicine. It is well known that both the practice of silence and attempts to abstract from the problem for a long time have made their detrimental contribution to the current state of affairs - even health workers are often not sufficiently aware of the peculiarities of the course of the disease. Moreover, there is not enough knowledge about drug addiction and substance abuse in people far from medicine.

Drug addiction and substance abuse originated in antiquity. The peoples of the world had their own secrets and ways of using a wide variety of narcotic substances. This was necessary for the full-fledged rites and ceremonies associated with traditions and religion. Also, mixing narcotic substances with various fairly harmless products - liquids and oils, some claimed that in smoke clubs they see and unravel the signs from the future. In some countries in Africa and to this day, individual tribes grow cannabis - the most important attribute of magical rites. In Mexico, local Indians use marijuana - a common occurrence in ritual gatherings. The cult of plants containing intoxicants can also be related to the fact that once people deified these plants, believed that they were infused with spirits and gods. The priests of India, for dedicating their disciples to various sacraments and familiarizing themselves with ancient knowledge, are showered with their narcotic medicines, fumigated with a hallucinogenic vapor or smoke.

As a result of a short regular (and sometimes even a single) use of narcotic substances, some drugs develop drug addiction and substance abuse. Their consequences are incredibly pernicious and of a grave nature. First of all, the brain suffers. Internal organs, the nervous system become vulnerable to various diseases, capable of even taking the life of a drug addict. Soon begins the destruction of personality from a spiritual point of view. The psychic changes greatly, and this entails the development of selfishness and brutality, the ability to adequately assess one's actions is lost. A person becomes antisocial, he does not seek a full life, but increasingly degrades.

Allocate the main signs of drug addiction and substance abuse, which are observed in all people with this diagnosis. First, it is a mental dependence. The value system is destroyed, life goals first go to the background, and then completely become unnecessary. Every day the addict wakes up with the idea of where to get a new dose of drugs - for that he lives. Secondly - physical dependence. An abstinence syndrome is a phenomenon where narcotic substances destroy enzymes and hormones responsible for natural anesthesia in the body. Breaking is a painful experience, and in order to get rid of them, drug addicts go to the most desperate and terrible deeds. Thirdly, the sensation of taking the drug changes. He no longer causes the same euphoria and joy. The drug only helps to stop the pain from breaking. At the same time, the person is no longer able to refuse to use narcotic substances himself - physical suffering is very strong. Only a few could say "no" and survive a few days without a drug. Even harder then do not go back to it again ...
