Planting seedlings

How to sow seeds and how to grow seedlings at home, not everyone knows, especially this is a difficult question for residents of apartments and those who do not have personal plots outside the hustle and bustle of the city. Everyone thinks they know how to grow seedlings, and for them it seems easy even before the first failures and mistakes. To grow good and quality seedlings, you just need to know some horticultural rules and secrets, under which you will not be left without a good and abundant harvest.

Experienced summer residents give preference to the sowing of vegetables in the winter month - January, so that in the spring the seedlings can be planted in the greenhouses or on the site. But this is not always correct. It is believed that in those plants that have outgrown, the stability of shoots and yields decrease. The most popular month, in which knowledgeable truck farmers plant their seedlings, is March.

Planting seedlings of peppers, aubergines and some other vegetables - can be made in early March.

Onion and tomato are planted in the middle of March, and cabbage at the end of the month.

In April, planting seedlings of those crops that have not been listed above. On seed packs, as a rule, the optimum sowing time is indicated.

As you know, planting seedlings carried out in boxes or special containers. They should be capacious and spacious with holes at the bottom, and it is also preferable that it is a box made of wood, they grow better in seedlings. In small containers, the roots of the seedlings are intertwined as they grow into one large knot, and when you start planting them in the ground, due to the injuries they get while pulling out, a large half of the plants die.

After seedling emergence, you should place it in a warm and bright place. If plants receive a small amount of light, not enough for their further growth, then the seedlings will be yellowish, weak, painful. The probability of obtaining a crop from such a seedling will be zero.

Planting seedlings is very difficult. Many plant seedlings near windows on windowsills, but the light on them is not sufficient. In such conditions, additional lighting is needed:

  • When the first shoots appear; Especially in the first few days after germination;
  • If the cloudy and rainy weather lasts long outside the window;
  • Many windows are on the shady side, so in such places it is best not to plant seedlings.

The first few days for seeds of seedlings are the most important and therefore require additional and good light all round the clock. In the days that follow, until the very landing, only 15 or 16 hours a day is needed.

In apartments, the microclimate is not very suitable for growing seedlings, therefore, in order to achieve the desired percentage of moisture, it is just necessary to arrange any containers with water and sprinkle sprouts more often. Humidity must be between 60 and 80 percent. If there is a greenhouse, then there must be a corresponding temperature. So, three external factors must be taken into account when growing seedlings: luminosity, air temperature and humidity.

Seeds should be planted not densely, at a distance indicated on the bags. Correctly make a picket for seedlings: after it has grown, it must be transplanted into more spacious containers to give the space necessary for further growth.

This moment is important and very necessary. If the picket is not produced, then the seedlings will not be able to fully develop, and when transplanting into the ground many roots will die from injury.

When picks, the tip of the root is usually pricked, so that lateral processes appear. This will make the plant stronger, and when transplanted into the soil, he has more chances to get accustomed.

If you follow these instructions, your seedlings will always be of high quality, and you will get a great harvest.
