Amazing development: "smart garden" in the house

Imagine that you can grow organic vegetables and fruits at home all year round. This is what the founders of the start-up called "Grove" want to create, which have developed the ecosystem and describe it as an "intellectual garden in the house." The idea of the startup came to the mind of two students who wanted to give people the opportunity to grow their own products, regardless of the season and their location. The startup is based in Somerville, Massachusetts, USA.

Initial funding for the project was $ 4 million. But in just four days, the company was able to raise 230 thousand dollars as additional funding for Kickstarter. But their products are not cheap. Prices start at $ 2,700.

How does the ecosystem work?

It includes an aquarium in which fish eat food and turn it into waste. Then the bacteria turn these wastes into nitrates, which are an important fertilizer for plants. The pump system pumps water enriched with nitrates through the plant site, creating a closed ecosystem. It is a symbiosis of fish, plants and bacteria.

The ecosystem contains two places for plants. Instead of soil, clay pebbles are used here, which also acts as a biological filter. In addition, LED lights are used, which can be adjusted to the height of the plant.

The ecosystem is managed by an intelligent operating system. It can even go into vacation mode, so you do not need to look for neighbors or acquaintances who would agree to water the plants while you are away.

The company plans to launch its product on the US market in the near future.
