Pigmentation on the face

Pigmentation on the face is a condition of the skin, accompanied by the appearance on it of specific spots.

The colorant is constantly in the skin. Thus, the skin acquires a certain color. Pigment is contained in different people in different amounts, which explains the light or swarthy tinge.

Typically, the colorant is distributed evenly over the skin. Therefore, most of the cover has exactly the same color. However, with an uneven distribution of the colorant , pigmentation on the face is formed. It is expressed in the presence of more or less densely colored areas of the skin. The spots can be of absolutely different sizes: from barely noticeable to very large.

As a rule, these areas contrast sharply with other areas of the skin. Particularly noticeable is the pigmentation on the face with large areas and their specific location, which represents a cosmetic defect. Specialists distinguish two groups of spots - congenital and acquired.

The first include moles. As a rule, they are not considered a serious defect. And in some cases give the image of the owner some attraction. Congenital spots are also considered congenital. These sites represent a very serious medical problem.

Acquired spots are freckles. The same group includes chloasma (melasma). As a rule, this pigmentation is formed on the face, in rare cases - in the neck. This condition is typical for pregnant women. However, this violation of skin pigmentation can occur in any other condition.

Often the appearance of spots indicates irregularities in the functioning of certain internal organs, mainly ovaries, adrenals and other glands. These disorders have an endocrine character and are provoked by hormonal changes that are typical for the period of pregnancy.

Chloasma can be the result of taking some contraceptive medications. However, in a number of cases, pigmentation develops against a background of liver diseases. That is why before you start to treat the condition yourself, you need to contact the doctors (dermatologist, endocrinologist and gynecologist). Moreover, only qualified specialists are able to determine whether the condition is caused by medication intake. Some medications can have a serious effect on the cover. Thus, the so-called medicinal hyperpigmentation of the skin arises. It should be noted that this phenomenon develops as a result of an increase in the sensitivity of the cover against the background of taking medications. And the pigmentation itself arises under the influence of allergy or sunlight. Among the most common drugs that can affect the sensitivity of the skin should be allocated laxatives, tetracycline, diuretics and other means.

Self-treatment of pigmentation is highly undesirable. Using some means can not only not help, but also exacerbate the situation. In addition, it is not recommended to resort to the use of bleaching creams. This is due to the fact that they often include poisonous components (bismuth and mercury). The use of such drugs is contraindicated for persons with kidney disease, as well as for lactating and pregnant patients.

Do not use strong whitening agents during the day. This is due to the fact that the skin during this period is more strongly exposed to ultraviolet action, which significantly increases its sensitivity. As a result, the influence of bleaching agents can cause irritation.

When pigmentation spots appear, specialists should be visited. They, after carrying out the necessary studies of the skin, will select the necessary treatment.
