Parthenocarpic cucumber is grown in the open ground

Previously, under the open sky it was possible to grow only pollinated bees varieties of vegetables, in particular, cucumbers. But gradually, the standard varieties were replaced by hybrids, called parthenocarpic, or self-fertilized, that is, tying fruit without any pollination. Initially, they were intended for growing in greenhouses, but recently domestic breeders created the first hybrid for open ground - parthenocarpic cucumber, which is excellent for marinades and salads. And gradually, due to certain advantages, many truck farmers began to plant these hybrids in the open ground, especially since recently the number of bumblebees, bees and other pollinators in nature has dramatically decreased.

Advantages

Parthenocarpic cucumber has a higher yield, it has no bitterness, it continuously fructifies, is resistant to unfavorable climatic conditions and harmful diseases. In open ground, it can yield up to twelve kilograms of harvest per square meter. In addition, the parthenocarpic cucumber is completely devoid of seeds, so when salting there is no emptiness in it, which was appreciated by many housewives. He has enough dark large-billed fruit of a beautiful cylindrical shape up to 10 centimeters long. The stem of this garden crop is intensely branched, thus restraining the growth of the main stem. At the same time, a rather powerful curtain is formed on it, which is necessary for good fruiting. Parthenocarpic cucumber has medium-sized leaves, which allows to minimize the trauma of the plant when harvesting. Therefore this new hybrid is suitable for cultivation by the method of "spreading".

Reproduction

Parthenocarpic cucumber can be grown and seedlings, and by direct planting of seeds on the bed. For germination, a temperature of at least +24 degrees Celsius is required, so the vegetable is sown when the soil warms up sufficiently. According to many gardeners, the best seeds of cucumbers for a summer cottage or an infield are parthenocarpic. They are grown on a sheltered sunbed, which is mulched slightly with humus. Seeding on seedlings begins at the end of December at a depth of up to three centimeters in small pots without picks. Pour warm water through a strainer. At the end of the second week after the emergence of the shoots, the plants are placed at an average of 25 pieces per square meter. Plant seedlings in a permanent place at about a month old, when five or six leaves already appear.

Care

Care for this vegetable consists in loosening, weeding, and also in irrigation, and only after sunset. For the entire vegetation period, it should be fed at least twice. For this vegetable culture, breathable medium loamy soils are suitable. The most favorable predecessors are onions, potatoes, peppers and cabbage.

Varieties

Parthenocarpic hybrids include cucumbers "german", "cheetah", "vir", "virenta", "europe", "essica" and many others. They are distinguished by fruit tradeability, high yield, uniform maturation and alignment of the green. Some subspecies are also characterized by resistance to cladosporium.
