Orchid has come to fruition - what to do next?

In recent years, more and more exotic plants appear in our houses, pushing traditional ficuses, pelargoniums and violets from the window sills. Increasingly, trivial bouquets in cellophane are replaced with more original gifts - flowering orchids. These are bizarre inhabitants of the tropics, lively and incomprehensible, to which one needs to find an approach to preserve their health and beauty.

Most often, the first guests of city apartments are phalaenopsis. In connection with the advent of this miracle, as a rule, a lot of questions arise: how to water, where to put, what to do, if the orchid has faded, what to do if it drops flowers, and so on.

In order to provide the plant with optimal conditions, it is necessary to have an idea of its life in a natural environment. Phalaenopsis is a genus of orchids that grows naturally in the humid tropical forests of Southeast Asia, Australia and New Guinea. Like many other orchids, it is an epiphyte that other plants use as a support. Its fleshy roots are designed to absorb atmospheric moisture, so one of the most important conditions for growing is high humidity. At home, this abundant rainfall, which in conditions of captivity are replaced by frequent spraying. At the same temperature should be stable and preferably high (25-300C).

Buying an orchid in the winter, you can face a freezing plant. Brought from the cold, it drops drooping flowers, and sometimes leaves, as a result of completely dying. What if the phalaenopsis flowers froze? Damaged yellowing stems should be cut off, but leaves should not be touched - they must fall off by themselves. In this case, the main thing is to save the growth point (the central part of the socket), then the orchid will recover. The remaining leaves can be treated with Epin-extra, and when watering, add Zircon to water. These drugs are adaptogens, which will help the plant to cheer up.

One of the main components of care for orchids is, of course, watering. Use only soft water, and only the method of immersion. The frequency of irrigation depends on the conditions in which the plant develops, but in any case the indicator is condensate on the walls of the pot - as soon as it disappears, you need to water it. What to do if you fill a flower? It must be removed from the pot and urgently reanimated. If there are decayed roots, cut to life and sprinkle wounds with crushed coal or fungicide. Then the orchid is again planted in an airy substrate, placed in a warm, damp and bright place, and watered very carefully.

Many amateurs unknowingly completely remove the flower spike after the orchid has faded, which is not necessary at all. It is better to cut it to an extremely dormant kidney, as there is a possibility that new buds or even babies will appear on it. If phalaenopsis feels well, it blooms for 3-4 months. Before asking a question like "the orchid has faded - what should I do next?" You should make sure that this moment really has come. To do this, you need to carefully consider the tip of the peduncle. Only if it has turned black, yellowed or completely withered, you can not wait for new buds. Now you can cut the flower spike to the nearest sleeping kidney, while leaving remains the same, and there is a chance that a second flowering will occur.

You can try to get the kids after the orchid has faded. What to do in order to one day see the plant on his small copy? As a rule, babies on phalaenopsis appear in summer, with good lighting, high temperature and humidity. And, despite the widespread opinion about the complexity of the reproduction of orchids, this is not such a rare phenomenon. The main thing is to love your pets and understand their nature.
