Omez D

"Omez D" is included in the category of antiulcer drugs and remedies for the elimination of gastroesophageal reflux. Active components: omeprazole, domperidone. Auxiliary ingredients: sodium carboxymethyl starch, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium lauryl sulfate, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC).

Domperidone promotes an increase in the duration of peristaltic contractions in the antrum of the stomach. When slowing down the process of gastric emptying accelerates it, strengthens the tone of the lower sphincter of the esophagus, prevents the occurrence of vomiting and nausea. The component also stimulates the release of prolactin. The antiemetic property of domperidone, apparently, is due to complex gastrokinetic (peripheral) action and antagonism to dopamine receptors in the trigger zone of the brain. The component does not affect the secretion of the stomach. Domperidone poorly passes through the blood-brain barrier (BBB), and therefore rarely extrapyramidal side reactions, especially in adults.

"Omez D" is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux and dyspepsia, which are not amenable to therapy with H2-receptor antagonists or proton pump inhibitors separately.

Contraindicated drug with gastrointestinal bleeding, hypersensitivity to medication, perforation of the intestine or stomach, mechanical obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract, in childhood, with lactation, prolactin-secreting tumor in the pituitary (prolactinoma).

With care, the medication is prescribed to patients with renal, hepatic insufficiency.

"Omez" during pregnancy is permissible for use under the recommendation and under the supervision of a specialist.

Medication administration can provoke transient intestinal spasms, in patients with high permeability of the BBB - extrapyramidal disorders (tremor, parkinsonism and others). Also, hives, rash, hyperprolactinemia (gynecomastia, galactorrhea) are possible. In addition, constipation, dry mouth, flatulence, nausea, stomatitis, abdominal pain, hepatitis and other digestive disorders are possible. In some cases excitation, headache, hallucinations, depression, drowsiness and other manifestations of the central nervous system are noted.

Patients may also develop muscle weakness, arthralgia, myalgia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, urticaria, alopecia, photosensitivity, angioedema, fever, anaphylactic shock, bronchospasm.

Other adverse reactions when taking the drug "Omez D" include increased sweating, visual impairment, peripheral edema. Prolonged use of the drug can cause in rare cases the development of gastric cysts (glandular), which are benign in nature and reversible.

The bioavailability of domperidone can be reduced by simultaneous administration of sodium bicarbonate, cimetidine and other antisecretory and antacid preparations. The action of the component neutralizes the anticholinergics. Increases in plasma concentrations of domperidone are promoted by antibiotics of a number of macrolides, HIV protease inhibitors, antifungal drugs, nefazodone.

Overdose of the drug "Omez D" is characterized by the presence of such symptoms as drowsiness, extrapyramidal reactions, disorientation. Therapy involves the use of activated carbon. The development of extrapyramidal reactions is facilitated by antiparkinsonian, anticholinergic, antihistamines.

"Omez" (capsules) is recommended to take fifteen to twenty minutes before meals, one twice a day.

Before the start of treatment, it is necessary to exclude the development of the malignant process in the gastrointestinal tract, because the therapy, hiding the symptoms, will complicate the diagnosis.
