Ointment for gums from inflammation. Treatment of gingivitis

For some reason, it is commonly believed that "dental" problems can not be overlooked - they say, as soon as the enamel is damaged or the nerve becomes inflamed, it immediately appears - a sharp unbearable pain. In reality, everything is not so simple.

Gums, namely they act as the main goal of pathogenic microbes, do not get sick at once - the process, as a rule, stretches in time for long weeks or even months. Possessing less severe symptoms, an insidious disease skillfully uses the fact that it is not given due attention, and progresses with increasing speed. When the bleeding and the increased sensitivity of the gum tissue seriously complicates life, you have to go to the dentist and spend a lot of time and money to eliminate the consequences of your own "slowness". Meanwhile, qualitative impact on the "scenario" could be "Holisal" -gel - reviews suggest that its regular use significantly reduces the risk of gingivitis - or any other medication that is aimed at maintaining oral hygiene: whether it is applied "in The right moment ", the pathogens would certainly refuse their intentions regarding the" colonization "of the mucous membranes.

The main causes of inflammation of the gums

The fight against any disease begins with the identification of primary sources of infection and the localization of negative manifestations of the vital activity of bacteria. In particular, the ointment for gums (from inflammation and degradation of the cellular structure parapharmaceuticals, of course, help, but to control the dynamics of recovery should still be an experienced specialist) is shown for use if:

  • Can not find the "right" toothpaste;
  • There are systematic violations in the organization of a balanced diet (micronutrient deficiencies and vitamins in the body are one of the conditions for the dominance of bacilli over natural antibodies);
  • There are suspicions of malfunctioning of the immune system;
  • It is known about "bad heredity" (many dental ailments are programmed at the gene level and transmitted from parents to children);
  • A long period of time taken antibiotics or medicines designed to suppress signs of depression;
  • The list of bad habits includes smoking;
  • There are hormonal failures;
  • Formed a stone plaque - "provocateur" softening of tissue in the area of contact between the tooth and gums.

How to diagnose the disease at an early stage?

Ointment for gums (not all drugs with anesthetic effect help inflammation, and this must be constantly remembered and not exacerbated by self-medication) is used not only with pronounced symptomatology, but also with the goal of preventing disorders, therefore, a special need for an accurate diagnosis Before the start of the healing procedure there. However, the hypothetical threat of the development of allergic reactions to the active ingredients of the pharmacological product is preserved, and consultation with the dentist is still desirable.

As a means for treating gums, the preparations of this profile group are used when:

  • Cleaning of the teeth is accompanied by the release of blood, but there is no pain syndrome in fact;
  • There is a detachment of the tissue at the point of contact with the enamel (in reality there is no rupture, but it seems that the gradual deepening of the furrow still occurs);
  • Prolonged swelling occurs, and as a result, the teeth become mobile within their canals (it is a question of loosening the nonmechanical nature of origin);
  • Periodontal pockets become inflamed;
  • On the reddened areas are formed purulent ulcers.

Any of the above described features can be considered as a signal for immediate action.

Clinical forms of gingivitis

Inflammation of the gums - gingivitis - according to different estimates, affects from 70% to 90% of the world population. Five basic forms of the disease have been identified, although in fact the number of known clinical pictures is much larger - simply under the influence of "contiguous" infections the symptoms of the disease are prone to transformation (as the changes are caused by "secondary" factors, they are often classified as consequences of "non-core" pathogens) .

Each type of gingivitis - catarrhal, hypertrophic, ulcerative, desegamatic and atrophic - has a specific resistance to certain components of drugs. But there are also so-called universal antiseptics, the reaction mechanism of which is not tied to a specific subspecies of the pathogen. One of these drugs is the dental gel "Metrogil Denta" (the price fluctuates between 150-250 rubles). Its use is justified also with the easy form of gingivitis, when only the interdental papilla are affected, and with severe (i.e., inflammation of the entire gum).

The localization of the threat at an early stage makes it possible to effectively counter "rebellious" microbes. But until the end, exclude the possibility of total spread of the infection is still not possible: generalized gingivitis is fraught with edema of the alveolar teeth of the upper and lower jaw and is very problematic from the point of view of elimination of consequences.

Ointments for the treatment of gums and anti-inflammatory gels. Are there any differences?

It is not always advisable to resort to the use of gels that remove irritation and extinguish the focus of pathogen concentration in the oral cavity - sometimes you can do with the change of toothpaste and brush. But when it comes to targeted prevention or active confrontation with microbes, the ointment for gum healing is "the most": its active ingredients inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins and thereby prevent their "migration" from the tooth to the tooth.

Many non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs of this group are sold in pharmacies without a prescription, and ordinary consumers often have questions about their optimal form of release. Simply put, they are interested in the final effect: will the result from the application of the ointment be as pronounced as with the regular application of the gel, or not?

Of course, there is no unequivocal answer, for each preparation has an original basis, which determines the rate of adsorption and the quality of fixation on the gums. Whatever the case, most specialists are inclined to consider it as the "product of tomorrow" namely gels: they, in their opinion, penetrate better into the mucous membrane and do not dissolve so quickly with saliva.

The power of "Kholisala"

As an ointment for gums (from inflammation the medicine is recommended not only in Russia, but also in a number of European countries), "Kholisal" has proved to be the best.

On the speed of the onset of therapeutic effect, it surpasses many tablets: salicylate and cetalkonium chloride contribute to the fact that the pain recedes within two to three minutes after application. In passing, the ingredients remove puffiness and reduce bleeding. The low cost of the drug (about 300 rubles) makes it one of the best solutions available in the pharmaceutical market.

Why is Metrogil Denta so popular?

The base base is chlorhexidine and metronidazole: the first is a bright representative of a group of antiseptics, the second is a "hereditary" antibiotic. The action of the reagents is particularly noticeable in the upper layers of the mucous gum, that is, at the first stages of infectious progress the gel is very effective.

But, as the doctors note, the share of the antibiotic is clearly underestimated (if compared with analogues), therefore Metrogil Denta, whose price is about 170 rubles, often does not justify the hopes for the treatment of neglected forms of the disease. Nevertheless, the level of demand for medication among ordinary consumers (the reagent is dispensed without a prescription) is indicative of the opposite: many patients are betting on the "magic" properties of the gel even with relapses.

"Kamistad": the mechanism of contact at the point of inflammation

The gum ointment mentioned above, Denta, is very similar in terms of the anti-inflammatory effect to Kamistad, a gel containing lidocaine hydrochloride and chamomile extract. With the manifestations of gingivitis, both of these drugs are struggling to the best of their ability and, I must say, very successfully. However, the peripheral action of "Kamistad" (the estimated cost of one tube is 160-200 rubles) is not characteristic - the treated gum areas are numb for 3-5 minutes. Given the length of the therapeutic course - 7-10 days - a similar "anomaly" can be safely attributed to the shortcomings of the medicine.

Gel and balm "Asepta"

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug under the trade name "Asepta" is presented on the market in the form of gel and balm. Being a parapharmaceutical on the basis of propolis, chlorhexine and metronidazole, it has antimicrobial properties. But the result announced by the manufacturer during the practical application of the drug is often not confirmed. What is characteristic, the balm for gums in this particular case is not intended for rinsing the oral cavity - it, like the gel, is applied to the affected areas with a thin layer, after which they wait for the prescribed time, without taking any additional actions.

Ointment for gums for inflammation: a guide to use

For more rapid restoration of the degraded / inflamed areas of the gum tissue, one should adhere to the elementary rules for the use of gels and ointments:

  • Apply only after brushing your teeth;
  • If the process of eating food is associated with painful sensations - use products containing lidocaine (or its analog) half an hour before a meal;
  • Mandatory to resort to protection for the period of sleep;
  • Do not attempt to wash off components in cases where this is not specified by the original instructions (as a rule, the reagents are absorbed within the first 30 minutes and no additional rinsing of the mouth is required).

If there are no positive changes, you should seek qualified medical help.

Parallel non-drug treatment of gingivitis

Along with the use of such drugs as "Kholisal" -gel (reviews about it are predominantly positive, which indicates a high activity of the ingredients against pathogens), it is sometimes advisable to resort to "parallel" therapy:

  • To do an easy massage of atrophied gums (with observance of all norms of hygiene);
  • Load the chewing apparatus at the first opportunity (emphasis on fruit);
  • Apply dental floss and in every possible way to prevent plaque formation.

Disease of gums: the role of parapharmaceuticals

There are a lot of medicines that are aimed at improving the gums. Some drugs are prescribed following the results of the examinations and are released strictly according to the prescription. But there are also those who belong to the group of parapharmaceuticals - they are available for purchase in almost any pharmacy. And ointment for gums (the price of most gels varies within the limits of 100-350 rubles) is not the only popular form of production.

For example, the same "Forest Balsam" is presented as a special liquid for mouth rinsing. Having in its composition extracts from five medicinal plants, it excellently copes with the functions of the "tool for prevention", that is, it does not allow the development of catarrhal gingivitis by inhibiting pathogenic microbes.

But with the fibrous growth of the gum tissue, another "parapharmaceutics" - "Malavit" - is very effective. The main "weapon" here is already formic alcohol: cauterizing the mucous, the active ingredient localizes the site of damage (however, with standard inflammatory processes, "Malavite" is best not to use).

Gingivitis: prevention and healing

If we are talking about the use of parapharmaceuticals-balms, gargling for the gums is certainly a useful procedure, and it can be considered as an integral part of the complex prevention of the disease. According to the WHO instruction, there are three types of "preemptive" measures:

  • Primary actions include eliminating bad habits and optimizing the diet;
  • Secondary - elimination of foci of caries and their derivatives;
  • Tertiary are aimed at restoring the full functionality of the chewing system (prosthetics, etc.).

When all these items are performed, the healing of the patient with gingivitis is a decided issue.
