National parks of Russia today exist throughout the vast territory, beginning with the subtropics and ending with the Arctic Circle, in all its subjects. And although for our country it is a relatively young form of PAs - objects that are protected by the state, however, they began to exist even under the USSR, in the 1970s.

They are intended for use both for environmental and educational purposes, and for regulating tourism. Water, land, flora, animals living on the territory - everything, according to federal laws, is transferred to the use of the park.

For a very long time, until the 2000th, the national parks of Russia were subordinated to forestry departments. And only after their abolition they were subordinated to the Department of Protected Areas.

In the classical view, national parks in Russia have the opportunity for functional zoning of the territory, that is, in their space it is possible to carry out economic activities, such as sparing forest management and agriculture, and organize ecotourism. A lot of people today prefer to leave far from the hustle and bustle of cities to find themselves in nature, to restore their health and restore strength. At the same time, they can expand their horizons, get acquainted with the culture and history of the area.

In order to more fully imagine what the national parks of Russia are, let us dwell on some of them.

Valdai - a national park, which is located on the territory of a unique complex of lakes and forests on the Valdai Upland. It includes, besides 70 others, the main treasure - Lake Seliger, in shape resembling an orchid flower. Among the numerous wooded islands is the male Iver Monastery, which is a favorite place for tourists and pilgrims.

Founded in 1987, the park "Curonian Spit" annually receives up to eight thousand tourists, who are attracted here with fresh invigorating sea air and the scent of pine forest. In the park there is a sea beach with a dune protective shaft, which is washed by the waters of the Baltic and the Curonian Lagoon. There is an opportunity for windsurfing, sailing on a yacht, and a walk through the ancient village streets will create in the soul an atmosphere of calm and dimensionality. Hanging everywhere networks and the smell of smoked fish will give the walk a special flavor.

Russian national parks are rich in flora and fauna. Among them, the "Russian North" is known for its amazing beauty, where more than 60 species of plants listed in the Red Book grow. There are as many as four monuments of Russian architecture - the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery on the shores of the picturesque Siverskoye Lake, the Ferapontov Monastery, where there are frescoes of the great icon painter Dionysius, the Goritsky Convent and the Nile-Sorsk Desert - the first in Russia.

The natural pearl of Karelia is the national park "Paanajarvi", which is, in fact, a country of lakes. The beauty of the park is practically untouched by civilization, everywhere there are the north-taiga fir and birch forests, waterfalls and breathtaking landscapes.

No less famous are the Karelian "Kalevala", "Kandalaksha" and "Kivach", the archangel "Kenozersky", etc., where you can see the pristine nature, historical monuments, combining all this with an ecological rest.
