The engine of Java has cylinders made of light metal, and sleeves of cast iron. The volume of the combustion chamber remained unchanged - 343.47 cm ³ , with the diameter and stroke of the piston, respectively, 58/65 mm.

Java 638 has a compression ratio of 10.2: 1 and engine power of 25.8 hp, which is quite good for those years. The diameter of the diffuser hole for the carburettor is 28 mm.

It was also constructively improved by the enrichment, which was an innovation for that time.

Motorcycle Java 638 has a gearbox with needle bearings and a clutch basket, equipped with 5 clamping springs.

City driving in Java does not cause difficulties. The level of comfort of such a motorcycle is quite high even for its class. After all, a rigid saddle with a long trip does not bring any problems. Java 638 behaves well on the road. It is stable even for off-road. This is achieved by the good properties of the front fork, which differs rigidity and is able to compensate even for significant road irregularities.

Rear adjustable shock absorbers make it possible to load a motorcycle even on an uneven road. The dimensions of this vehicle are such that it is ideal for driving two people. The presence of a tachometer, with which help it is possible to determine the engine speed with accuracy, is very pleasing to such a car.

Although the saddle on Java is removed quite simply, however, it needs to be installed carefully. After all, you can easily scratch the casing.
