Morse from cherry and almond. A simple and delicious drink

Morse is considered one of the oldest beverages, common in the territory of present-day Russia. About him is mentioned already in the "Domostroi", a set of rules and instructions of the 16th century. And the etymology of this word comes from the Byzantine "mursa", which means "water with honey". In the modern sense, mors is a refreshing non-carbonated drink made from fruit juice (and even vegetables) with the addition of sugar, honey, water, sometimes spices, nuts. General technology of preparation

Most often, berries are used for the drink. They are washed thoroughly, from them the bones are removed, if any. Then the berries are grinded (you can grind it in a blender), fill with water, boil a few minutes or simply bring to a boil and turn off the fire. After this drink should be allowed to cool, then strain it. Add to taste honey or sugar, vanilla, spices, nuts. Then the beverage can be filtered again to avoid precipitation. In some recipes, it is suggested to add lemon peel or a slice of orange (but it must be remembered that citrus fruits strongly clog the berry taste of the drink).

How to use

Prepared mors in winter you can drink hot. In the summer it is used chilled. In both cases, it retains its uniqueness, natural taste and smell. By the way, in classic ancient folk recipes, mors is a low-alcohol beverage. It is made from fermented juices and has a strength of at least one percent.

Morse from cherry and almond

In the pulp of berries contains useful vitamins and trace elements, folic acid, pectins. Cherry juice perfectly fights with thirst, improves appetite.

To prepare the drink "Morse from cherry and almond" we need: one kilogram of cherries, a glass of almonds, two liters of natural water, two large spoons of honey.

  1. Almond is filled with boiling water for up to ten minutes. We merge the water, peel the nuts from the skin, which would give a bitter taste. Peeled almonds to grind (you can do this with a blender, or you can - be covered in a mortar), mix with honey in a homogeneous mass. Mix the mixture of honey and nut paste in a glass dish, clean in the cold. We continue to prepare mors from almonds and cherries. Simple recipes sometimes also have their secrets.
  2. From the cherries remove the stone, rinsing before it in cool running water (after the removal of stones to wash the berries is not recommended, since with the water will take a lot of formed juice). Prepared berries are ground in a blender. Previously, for these purposes - to turn out the juice to the pulp - used an ordinary meat grinder or juicer.
  3. The resulting thick juice is poured with natural water, bring to a boil in a large saucepan. Slightly cool. We connect with almonds and honey. Stir thoroughly. We will give the drink one hour to stand. After that, the fruit of cherry and almonds must be filtered through cheesecloth, wring out and, if desired, cool.
