Mirrors Edge: system requirements, creation history, gameplay and more

Game Mirrors Edge, the system requirements of which will be discussed in this article to run at minimal and optimal settings, refers to the genre of action-adventure. The first announcement took place in 2007, on July 10. On the development of the game about parkour from the first person worked company Creative Entertaiment. The publishing house was taken over by Electronic Arts.

Exit the game

In November 2008, the game Mirrors Edge, the system requirements will be indicated below, was released on two game consoles. Speech, of course, is about Sony Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The version of parkour action with elements of the action movie was released on the computers of happy users in 2009, January 13.

A little about developing

The basis of the game is the engine called Unreal Engine. It was well worked out by a team of programmers who pored over the creation of Mirror's Edge. So, a number of new, high-quality light effects were added. Along with Creative Entertaiment, the studio Illuminate Labs was working on cross-platform action.

Plot

The game takes place in a certain city. Time is not exactly indicated, but numerous details show that this is even the future, but obviously not so far. Communications facilities used by citizens of the city are fully controlled by government law enforcement agencies. To exchange messages with the help of such tools, without oversight from above, is simply impossible. The only way to convey your information to a person in such a way that it has not been read by the police is possible only with the help of peculiar couriers running as they are called in the game. To the category of such people is just the main character of the action - Faith.

Game process

Mirrors Edge, whose system requirements we will consider a little later, is, in fact, an action, where the player is given a first-person view. The elements of the action movie in the game, of course, are present. However, sharpening Mirror's Edge is clearly not the case. The main element here is the skills of parkour. They are a help, using which, it is necessary to move from level to level.

Features of the game

Perhaps the main feature can be called a bright color palette. In Mirror's Edge, there is almost no HUD. The player has the opportunity to see their hands, legs, and also to examine the body. It is worth noting that for games that assume the presence of the first person, this is a very big rarity.

Critics of Mirror's Edge

In general, the game received positive reviews from various critics. And the players who tried to compete in a network mode, were simply delighted. Innovations were praised. The environment in the game also did not go unnoticed. But the disadvantage was a relatively short storyline. The soundtrack was written by Magnus Birgersson. The final song was performed by Lisa Miskowski (Sweden). By the way, she wrote this song. Currently, an entire album has been released, which includes remixes of the final track.

Mobile versions

In 2010 (as it turned out, it was not a joke) specifically for the iPad came the side-scroller of the game. A few months later this application was optimized and released for the iPhone. And in 2012, the side-scroller appeared on Windows Phone.

Exit Mirrors Edge 2

In the summer of 2013 an exhibition E3 was held, at which the announcement of the eponymous game was held. The developers said that it will not be so much a new part as simply a restart of the original version.

More recently, EA has registered yet another trademark, called Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. Immediately the next day, the world community of gamers and just fans of this game received official confirmation that this is the name of the new part.

Mirrors Edge. System requirements on PC

So, in order to just run the game and use it on minimal settings, the computer should have rather modest characteristics, as it turned out. This requires an Intel Pentium 4 processor running at a clock speed of 3.0 GHz. RAM is enough for 1 GB for the Windows XP operating system and 2 GB for Windows Vista. Accordingly, 2 gigabytes is required for people who have the installed system Windows 7. As a video card, the brainchild of NVidia, and more precisely, it's a GeForce 6800 model . It's important: the video card should support Shader Model 3.0 technology. Memory on the video card to run at minimum settings is sufficient in the amount of 256 MB. It takes the game itself on the hard drive of at least 8 GB.

And to enjoy all the charms of Mirror's Edge, its without exaggeration stunning graphics, which now can not boast of every game, will have to shell out for the purchase of an Inter Core 2 Du processor running at 2 GHz. The operating memory will have to be increased by 1 GB. As a graphics card, you can use GeForce 8800 model from NVidia. Important: support for the previously mentioned technology should also be present, and the memory on the video card must be at least 512 GB.

Results

At the time of this writing (August 2015), you can safely say that the vast majority of players can enjoy the game already at the maximum settings, appreciate the quality of light effects developed by the team of programmers and the studio, and also completely immerse themselves in the game world.

To date (almost all) the weakest computers are equipped with iron, which will perfectly cope with this task. Nevertheless, the quality bar in the gaming industry has significantly increased compared to the previous years. We are talking, of course, about such games as GTA 5, Battlefield 4, Witcher 2 and others. So gamers try to meet the minimum requirements of such games. That, in turn, allows you to run older versions at the maximum settings. The important thing is that (as in the case of Mirror's Edge), they also look no less attractive in terms of graphics equipment.
