Location

Crete is the largest island in Greece. There are many large and small cities, each of which has its charm and charm. How to get there

You can get to Crete by water and by air. At the height of the season, many direct flights from Aegean Airlines, NordStar Airlines, Nordwind Airlines, Aeroflot, Transaero, and Aerosvit are sent from Russia and Ukraine. They fly to Heraklion from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Norilsk, Voronezh, Kazan, Ekaterinburg, Kiev, Donetsk, Lviv.

There are about one and a half dozen companies flying to the island from any European country. In the off-season and in winter all international flights are canceled, only local ones remain, from Athens and Rhodes. You can get here by a comfortable ferry from Athens or from other Greek islands. From Heraklion to Mali, there is a shuttle bus (ticket price around 4 euros), stopping close to the Meropi 4 * hotel. Also there you can get from Heraklion by taxi, which will cost about 50 euros.

Meropi Hotel 4 * is located on a green well-groomed territory surrounded by an evergreen garden. A special charm is attached to palm trees and fruit trees that grow along the paths and near the hulls.

This hotel was commissioned in 1987. Overhaul was carried out in 2009.

Infrastructure Meropi 4 * represents two buildings, a new and old, free parking lot, for adults - three pools, different in shape, size and depth, for children - swimming pools and a sports ground. There is free wireless internet, two bars and a restaurant. Reception in the hotel is open. Check-in is made upon arrival, regardless of the time of day. Late guests are treated to sandwiches so that guests can have a snack from the road.

Rooms

Many tour operators claim this hotel as Meropi Apartments 4 *. This is absolutely true, since all 96 rooms offered to guests are two-room apartments. Their area is from 42 m ² . In each room apart from the living room and bedroom is equipped with a small but functional kitchenette with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and a necessary set of dishes. The design of the apartments is made in the style of minimalism - there is nothing superfluous that would clutter free space. There is no carpet. The floor is tiled, which is justified for hot summer days. Each room has air conditioning (7 euros per day), telephone, safe (key to be taken at the reception), TV and hairdryer. The spacious bathrooms are equipped with a toilet, a washbasin, a bathtub with a shower. Many rooms have a jacuzzi. Soap and toilet paper are provided from hygiene products. Noteworthy are the large balconies (terraces) available in each room. The windows overlook either the hotel grounds, or the surroundings, the sea and the distant mountains.

Recommendations for numbers

All rooms in the Meropi Hotel Apartments 4 * are in good condition, but the apartments of the new building have a more recent appearance than those in the old building, especially the furniture. The view of the sea opens only from the windows of the rooms located at the top. On the lower floors even in the summer heat is fresh enough, so the air conditioner is not needed. Shadow and coolness is given by multiple trees blocking the sun. In addition, in the apartments of the first floors you can get through the balcony without going to the hotel. Some tourists in the reviews mentioned that their children were jumping into the pool directly from the balcony (terraces). For some, this may seem a minus, but others will find a significant advantage. For the cleanliness of the rooms you do not have to worry, cleaning is done daily and impeccably. Linen and towels are changed every three days.

Food

Wonderfully organized meals in the Meropi 4 *. Greece is famous for its hospitality. They cook very tasty, with soul. Dishes of national cuisine include meat, fish, a lot of vegetables, seasoned with olive oil and lemon juice. The peculiarity of this hotel is that almost all vegetables and fruits are grown in their own garden, just behind the green park zone. That is, all products are, first, environmentally friendly, and secondly, always fresh. As a rule, our tourists go to rest on the "full board" system, which means providing breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks.

The hotel has a cozy restaurant, where the main meals are held. There is a small bar between two swimming pools and a lobby bar. Breakfast time is from 7-30 to 9-30, lunch from 13-00 to 14-30, dinner from 18-30 to 21-00. Snacks in the form of sandwiches, sweets, ice cream and all kinds of drinks are held in the bar by the water from 10-00 to 18-00, and in the lobby from 18-00 to 23-00.

Breakfast is buffet style and serves continental cuisine. In the menu muesli, several types of cereal, milk, sausages or sausages, eggs, several kinds of cheese, ham, honey, jam, butter, pastries, coffee, tea, juice. From drinks: sweet sparkling water, wine, ouzo (brandy), beer. In their free time from the beach rest, guests at the Meropi 4 * hotel can enjoy water sports in the pools. Around each one there are sun beds and umbrellas. For fans to leave the ball in the territory there is a volleyball court, and in one of the buildings there are billiard tables. Relax, arrange a feast for the soul and body can be in the sauna or steam bath. Animation in the hotel there, but for kids in the afternoon on the playground are held quizzes and competitions. In general, this hotel is quite quiet and quiet, even the bar on the territory closes at 23-00.

Sea

Most tourists choose the Meropi 4 * hotel for a wonderful beach holiday. Malia (or Malia) is famous for its magnificent coastline. The nearest beach is 750 meters away. In addition to this beach in Malia, there are others. So, in 2.5 km (half an hour walk) is Sun Beach. There is a convenient and safe swimming pool for the youngest tourists. Still further in the eastern direction stretched the tropical beach, followed by the River. It is located near the excavations of the Mali Palace, which makes it possible to combine beach rest with cognitive. It is 3.5 km from the city center. On foot there is far away, but for those who rented any vehicle - just right. The river beach is considered one of the quietest and least populated, sand and sea here are ideal. Entertainment on the water can be not only riding on "bananas" and hydrocycles: try to ride a wave on a special board, since the winds from the second half of the summer are blowing properly. On the beaches of Mallia there are windsurfing and diving clubs. The water in the sea is clean and transparent, only the animals are not enough. But it's still interesting, because if you're lucky, you can watch octopuses, catch a crab or sea urchin.

When is the best time to relax in the hotel Meropi 4 * (Malia)

This hotel is seasonal. It works from May to October. In the spring it is very good, the trees, bushes and fields on the mountain slopes bloom. The air temperature keeps at around +19 ^о С, the sea warms up (especially in shallow water) to +17 ^о С, there is practically no wind.

Until the middle of the month, rains are still possible, but they are warm and short-lived. The room rate at the hotel is slightly lower than the rest of the time. In all souvenir shops and taverns, too, there is a decline in prices.

In June, if there are precipitation, it is very rare. The air warms up to +22 ^о С and above, the sea becomes much warmer.

Since July, the heat begins, but it does not bother, because at this time of year the winds start to blow from the north, a paradise for windsurfers and all who like to "catch the wave."

August is just as hot. The sea off the coast this month warms up to +26 ... + 28 ^о С, there are a lot of tourists, all goods and services are offered at maximum prices.

September and October are wonderful months for rest. Many hotels and restaurant yards are quietly closing, people are leaving, prices are falling. This time is most suitable for shopping, as in most stores prices are reduced by 30-50%. And although rainy days are already possible, in general the weather is wonderful. The sea is still very warm, the air too, the northern winds have changed direction to the south and blow moderately.

Prices in the hotel for a double room only with breakfast from 60 euros, half board from 70 euros and all inclusive from 100 euros per night. Apartments for 3-4 people, respectively, with breakfast from 75 euros, on a "half board" from 90 euros, and "all inclusive" from 130 euros.

Hotel Meropi 4 * (Malia) is located 500 meters from the main streets of the resort. This is a big plus, since fans of hangouts to multiple entertainment complexes, discos and nightclubs are close enough, and holidaymakers who do not like noise and din is also quite comfortable. Center Mallia is unusually noisy, there are a lot of young people, especially English. And although for motor transport the passage is closed, but on motorcycles and quad bikes the people chase so that the spirit captures. But the hotel does not hear anything. Here you can have a wonderful rest and sleep even with an open window. In relation to the sea, the hotel is on the 2nd line, which should be taken into account by people who are difficult to pass even a few hundred meters. Beach towels are issued at the reception, but they are paid and cost 5 euros. Safe is also paid. But the Internet can be used freely.

Complaints cause paid air conditioning, but many tourists do without it. Also in the reviews there is a lack of electric kettles in the rooms, although there is an electric stove on which you can boil any amount of water in a matter of minutes.
