Means of 'Enam'. Instructions for use

The "Enam" medication describes the use instructions as an inhibitor (reducing activity) of the angiotensin-converting enzyme. The active ingredient is enalapril maleate. The drug is available in tablet form.

The drug "Enam" performs a gradual decrease in diastolic and systolic pressure, practically without affecting the frequency of contraction of the heart. The drug helps to increase renal blood flow, improve kidney function, prevents the development of diabetic nephropathy. As studies show, the systematic use of the Enam drug reduces mortality on the background of heart failure. The drug has no effect on lipid and carbohydrate metabolism.

Dosage and duration of therapy is determined by the attending physician.

As a rule, with arterial hypertension the initial dose is five milligrams a day. Take the medicine should be one time. If necessary (on the recommendation of the doctor) the dosage may be increased to ten or twenty, and in some cases up to forty milligrams a day. The amount of the medicine can be taken once or divided twice. With the simultaneous use of diuretics, the dosage of the Enam medication is reduced to two and a half milligrams per day.

Patients with congestive heart failure are usually prescribed 2.5 mg per day once or twice. Increase the dosage of "Enam" medication. Instructions for use recommend gradual implementation. As a maintenance therapy usually prescribed for five to twenty milligrams a day.

To side effects when using the medicine "Enam" instructions for use include a disorder of taste, tinnitus, angioedema, rashes, dry cough. The drug can provoke muscle cramps, orthostatic reactions, diarrhea, drowsiness, nausea, fatigue. Continuous use of the Enam drug may cause an increase in the urea index, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, impaired renal activity, thrombocytopenia, pancreatitis. Negative reactions include vasculitis, myalgia, vision disorders, impotence, alopecia, anorexia.

The "Enam" medication does not allow the administration to persons with hypersensitivity to enalapril or the product of its disintegration (enalaprilat), anginaurotic edema (in anamnesis), porphyria. Contraindicated medication during lactation and during pregnancy. Due to the lack of information on the effectiveness and safety of using the drug in childhood, the drug is not prescribed for children.

In case of overdose, pronounced hypotension is noted with violation of perfusion (blood passage) in vital organs.

To facilitate the condition, the patient should be transferred to a horizontal position, and gastric lavage should be performed . Activated charcoal is assigned. Symptomatic therapy is indicated.

The medicine "Enam" can provoke a pronounced hypotension, especially when first applied by patients with kidney and heart failure of chronic course and hyponatremia.

To prevent the development of hypotension prior to the appointment of the drug for two or three days, it is recommended to stop taking diuretic medications and salt-free diet. If it is not possible to implement these recommendations, the "Enam" agent is prescribed in a minimum dosage of two and a half milligrams.
