Marigold. Cultivation from seeds, from seedlings, useful properties of marigolds

Marigolds belong to the family of Compositae. Their homeland is the subtropics of America. They are thermophilic, do not tolerate frost and plant them in places protected from the northern winds. Marigolds grow well in shaded places, easily tolerate drought, undemanding to the soil. In addition to heavy clay soils, grow on all others, but best of all - on loams, sufficiently provided with moisture.

Bright, different shades, from light yellow to terracotta, with lush green leaves, decorating any garden area and blossoming to frost - such are the marigolds. Cultivation from seeds presupposes sowing in the soil in May-June, but often these flowers are grown in seedlings.

Marigolds, growing seedlings from which requires certain skills and knowledge, are not only an ornamental plant, but also a healer. Firstly, marigolds are used in folk medicine, and secondly, when planted next to vegetable crops in the garden, scare off the bear, aphid and nematode.

So, if you decide to grow bartoets in your house, growing from seedlings should begin with sowing seeds in late March. As soon as the second pair of these leaves appears on the shoot, it is necessary to dive the plants in the box, planting them less often, approximately 8x8 cm, because they form a large fibrous root system. Seeds of barhotts can be buried in the ground for ¾ of the length of the stem, since they are easily formed subordinate roots. Barahatians well tolerate transplantation, even during the flowering period, they can be moved to another location without damaging the plant.

If you have a greenhouse, you can also sow marigolds in it. Growing from seeds in a greenhouse under a film or in a greenhouse can be done without diving, it is enough to plant plants at a distance of 10 cm from each other. Landed in the open ground barahattsy after all spring frosts pass, at the same time as, for example, primula. Cultivation of marigold seeds is convenient because when planning to improve vegetable cultures with the help of these flowers, you can simultaneously sow rows of, for example, cucumbers and marigolds. In close proximity to marigolds, fewer aphids appear on cucumbers, because the essential oils contained in the plant repel insects.

In addition, rows of marigolds can be alternated with rows of cabbage, tomatoes, pepper: in this case, the bear and nematode do not often visit the vegetable plots, and the crop can be kept better.

If you want to improve the soil as a whole, in autumn, collect faded stems, leaves and flowers, and finely chop the marigolds. Cultivation of these flowers from the seeds makes it possible to sow a large area and, collecting them in autumn and chopping, dig with the soil. The presence of essential oils in the plant will scare off pests from your garden, and next spring they will be much less.

In folk medicine, marigolds, growing from seeds which enable them to prepare raw materials for their own treatment, are used as a diuretic and progestogen. Also, marigolds have diaphoretic properties and are added to anti-inflammatory preparations.

The essential oil of marigolds is used for cystitis and neurosis, urethritis and urinary retention. Inside, essential oil is used in "chicken blindness". In addition, the essential oil of marigolds is used in aromatherapy, and is used for the treatment of depression, neurosis, and also in a state of uncertainty and confusion.

In addition, marigold oil is used in massage practice. For this, 10 drops of essential oil of marigolds are added to 20 ml of the base (baby cream, olive oil, massage cream). For medicinal baths with butter of marigolds, it is enough to add 10 drops to the bath.

Contraindicated to use essential oil of marigolds with eczema, and also before the 32nd week of pregnancy.
