Mac OS X. Features, settings, hidden files and hot keys

For many users, there was the problem of accessing the Internet without installing an antivirus program, or many users without hesitation pass by the links sent to them in spam or on suspicious sites. As a result, they receive problems related to viruses and Trojans. But the emergence of such problems in the owners of computers from Apple with the operating system Mac OS X, is almost impossible even for beginners. Since this operating system is based on Unix (the Darwin kernel, in accordance with the "POSIX" standard), it is much better protected from malicious software than usual for most Windows users. Therefore, practically no one from the users of OS X installs their anti-virus software - they simply do not need them!

The first version of the Unix operating system was created in 1969, when graphic monitors and various manipulators for data entry were not used. And the most progressive input device was the keyboard. Therefore, to increase the productivity of labor widely used various combinations of keys - the so-called "hot keys". And modern versions have preserved this feature. With hotkeys, very often you can perform certain actions much faster than with a mouse or a trackpad. They are also used by Mac OS X, here is their main list (http://osxh.ru/content/hotkey_mac_os_x)

Operating system settings are usually stored in plain text files, but with rights protection installed and very often these files are hidden from ordinary users. You can view them in the terminal.app control program and you can turn them on for the standard Finder file management program (http://osxh.ru/content/hidden_files_mac_os_x).

Since Unix was originally a multi-user and multitasking operating system, many server functions are built into it initially. So, in the modern version of Mac OS X, there is initially a web server, an ftp server, but since they are not needed by many users, they are disabled by default. And those who need them, they can simply include the necessary commands in the terminal. There is a version of Mac OS X Server that differs from the standard additional programs that improve server management and expand its server capabilities.

For those users who can not completely abandon the use of programs developed on Windows, there are special programs that allow you to install Windows in a virtual environment and use on the same computer programs developed for both Mac and Windows. The most famous such programs are Parallels and VMware Fusion.
