Liquor triple-sec: recipes for cocktails

Regulars of bars and nightclubs are familiar with the name Triple Sec, because it is found as an ingredient in many of the most popular alcoholic cocktails. What kind of alcoholic beverage is it, what are its features and what is it best for it, about this more in detail below.

Three times dried oranges

Liqueur triple-sec is a classic sweetish alcoholic drink with orange flavor, whose strength can vary from 15 to 35 degrees.

The history of this drink is the second century, and the exact formula is kept in strict confidence. One thing is surely known: the basis for the preparation of liquor is dried orange peel, which insists at least a day on alcohol.

The technology for making this aromatic liquor necessarily involves triple distillation or distillation. This is what gave the name of the drink - "triple sec" can be translated as "thrice dry".

A cocktail with triple-sec liquor will decorate any festive party or pleasant rest, but you can drink this drink in its pure form.

What should be a real liqueur?

The authors of this alcoholic beverage almost simultaneously declared themselves two famous brands of alcoholic products: the French brand "Combe" and "Curacao". In addition, liquor triple-sec produce other famous brands, making their notes in the classic recipe.

That is why, depending on the brand you prefer, the characteristics of the drink may differ. The minimum strength that manufacturers offer is 15 degrees, the maximum is 40.

The color of the drink varies from almost transparent, slightly caramel to a saturated dark orange color. The density of liquor also varies depending on the brand.

Popular cocktails with an aftertaste of orange

Triple Sec liquor brings pleasant sweetish and fragrant notes to any cocktail, like a shot (small volume, drunk at a salvo), and long (a large cocktail that is drunk for a while). You can improvise with liqueur and any juices, champagne, martini and other favorite drinks. But you can use proven recipes that have found their fans around the world.

One of the most famous "fast" cocktails is "Kamikaze". To make it you need to mix in equal parts lemon juice, liquor triple-sec and vodka. For a standard dose of a cocktail, 30 ml of each beverage is sufficient. All components must be mixed in a shaker with ice and served with a slice of lemon.

Excellent shot - "Radiator". His recipe is also not difficult:

  • 15 ml liquor triple-sec and white rum are poured into a shaker with ice;
  • Add 25 ml of sweet vermouth, for example, "Martini";
  • Carefully mix the ingredients and pour into a small glass;
  • Decorate with an orange slice.

Practically in any cocktail you can add liquor triple-sec. The price of such a drink may not be too high, and the taste and aroma of liquor will give it elegance and nobility.

Long pleasure

In large glasses with cocktails very often add this aromatic liqueur. Probably the most famous such a long cocktail can be called "Devon". To make it, you need 90-100 ml of natural cider, 20 ml of gin and 1-2 teaspoons of triple-sec. Ingredients should be poured into a cocktail glass with ice, slightly mixed before use.

A very interesting cocktail called "Summer Storm" is prepared as follows:

  • Need an equal amount (approximate dose of 15 ml) liquor triple-sec, "Amaretto", liqueur "Kalua", sambuca and nut liquor;
  • In a mixing glass, add to the liqueur mix 120 ml of black tea of medium strength;
  • Mix and pour into a tall glass with ice.

You can also just add a little liqueur to your favorite juice, vermouth or champagne and enjoy a pleasant sweet aftertaste and a unique aroma.

Pleasure in moderation

Cocktails, especially with liqueurs - a thing very tempting, but insidious. They are very easy and tasty to drink, while not leaving a sense of "heavy" head or intoxication.

At a party or at a club it's hard to stop, it seems that there will be no harm from a few cocktails. But this is not quite true: the combination of several types of alcoholic beverages, which are usually found in every cocktail, leads to an increase in the effect of alcohols per person. It turns out that using a cocktail, the liver and kidneys of a person are much more stressed than with the use of a monocomponent alcoholic beverage.

And fruit juices, fresh and sparkling water, which are also an integral part of the cocktails, have an irritating effect on the stomach and intestinal mucosa.

But the negative factors that make cocktails on human health, are manifested only when abused. If you drink one or two delicious cocktails at a party, you will only get pleasure from a pleasant taste and a cheerful company.
