Leslie Tompkins. Painted Destiny

Leslie Tompkins is a character from the comics of the DC universe. Invented by Dennis O'Neill and Dick Giordano. Appears for the first time in visual novels called "Detective comics."

Leslie Tompkins. Biography

About the early fate of Dr. Tompkins is almost nothing. In comics, she appears to be a man already in adulthood. He is a close friend of Bruce Wayne's father, Thomas. She works in his clinic for low-income citizens. After Thomas and his wife kill a thief in front of his son in an attempt to pull the necklace, she, along with the butler Alfred, starts taking care of the little Bruce.

Bruce Wayne, growing up, turns into an antisocial teenager, who is obsessed with revenge for his dead parents. Leslie is very concerned about this and is constantly trying to correct Bruce's world view, convincing that revenge is a destructive feeling and nothing good is given to a person.

In the more mature age of Bruce Leslie Tompkins learns that he is that mysterious Batman. This causes her mixed feelings. On the one hand, she feels proud that Bruce Wayne is fighting crime, saving time and again his hometown of Gotham from a variety of disasters. On the other hand, she is concerned that he is risking his life.

In the main line of comics

In comics, she is an example of a pacifist-minded person. Bruce Wayne even envies her and regrets that she can not be as peace-loving as Leslie.

The joint education of the young Bruce brings Leslie and Alfred closer together, and a novel is tied between them. This happens when a teenager leaves abroad, goes into a kind of hermitage, and the butler with Dr. Tompkins remain alone in a large estate. However, their romance does not last long, and after it finishes, Leslie Tompkins decides to leave the estate to avoid seeing the ex-lover every day.

She opens a clinic in which she treats all patients who turn to her. A poor man or a rich man, a murderer or a priest, everyone finds help in her clinic regardless of their occupations and beliefs. Even such a cruel personage in the DC Comics universe as the killer Krok, who met his enemy Zsas within the walls of her hospital, refuses to engage in a fight with him, thus showing respect to Dr. Tompkins and her hospital.

"Gotham Underground"

In addition to the main line of comics, Leslie appears in an alternative universe, a kind of comic mini-series called "Gotham Underground". In this mini-series, she is rescued from the trouble of Nightwing, but later it turns out that it was a hallucination created by Riddle.

Batman in "Gotham Underground" dies at the hands of Darkseid, and the world is plunged into chaos. Real (and not hallucinating) Leslie Tompkins decides to help the needy and opens her clinic. She helps Robin and Betgerl to stop the chaos that struck Gotham.

James Gordon and Leslie Tompkins in the series "Gotham"

In the new series from the company Fox "Gotham" the role of Leslie is played by the talented and attractive actress Morena Baccarin. Here she is also a doctor, but not an elderly woman.

In Gotham she helps the city police, cooperating with them as a medical expert. She makes autopsies, conducts examination of crime scenes. Over time, she is taken to work at Arkham Hospital, where she meets a young police officer, James Gordon, who was demoted after he failed the case.

As the story unfolds, the viewer discovers that James Gordon is promoted to rank and becomes a detective at the police station. Wanting to be next to her husband, Leslie Tompkins gets a job at the same site where he works. She helps him to solve crimes, is the support and support of his husband. In the series, she is an example of a caring and sensitive wife.
