Learning to knit: how to type loops on knits

Having decided to tackle such a kind of needlework as knitting on knitting needles, the first thing to do is to master the complex science of performing a typing edge. And for this to study in detail the descriptions telling how to type loops. It turns out that you can start knitting socks or a sweater, even by typing a crochet hook. And, if it is a convenient tool for you, then by tying an air chain and putting each of its links on the spoke, you will get a ready-made tying edge. Further, it remains only to continue the work, following the description and the drawing.

But the most common method is called "long host". Using it, you will get a beautiful, neatly executed first row, which will be elastic enough, but not subject to stretching, and protect your product from deformation. For those who are still only knitting on knitting needles, experienced masters recommend training in how to type loops, paying special attention to the tension of the thread. After all, the stiffness (softness), the density (freedom) of the set edge set determines the appearance of the finished product and the convenience with its daily wear. During the workout, you can do the necessary work with a single needle, but in the future we recommend that you set the loops by folding the two spokes together.

So, we begin the set of loops on the needles with the fact that we measure the necessary amount of free thread from the main skein. The length of the "tail" is calculated as follows: for each loop you need from 1 to 2.5 cm (depending on the thickness of the knitting needle and yarn), and for a free tip that allows you to comfortably type the last loops, add another 15-20 cm.

Thread the thread around the thumb and forefinger of the left hand, holding both ends of it in the palm of your hand. A free "tail" entangles the thumb, and the lead to the tangle is the index finger. Hook the needle thread between the thumb and forefinger (Fig. 1).

Pulling it with a needle on yourself, slip under the yarn at the thumb (Fig. 2).

Then hook the thread in front of the index finger (Fig. 3) and draw it through the loop on the thumb (Fig. 4).

When pulling, a loop formed on the thumb. Release it and put the thread back on it (Fig. 5). Take care that the 2 loops obtained from the manipulations made do not jerk off the knitting pin at this moment.

Figures 6-10 clearly illustrate how to dial loops further up to the required number.

If this version of the beginning of the set of loops seems hard and complicated for you, then below we will give a description and illustrations of how to type loops using the "finished first loop" method:

Holding the "free end" of the thread, wind it once around the fingers (Figure 11);

Remove the resulting loop from your hand (Fig. 12);

Poddente central thread on the spoke, pull it out and tighten the loop (Fig. 13).

Further continue to implement the loop set as shown in Figures 6 through 10. We hope that this description will help you easily and easily master the science of performing the typing edge.
