Kirt Boots: History and Modernity

Kirsovye boots are known to each of us as truly Russian uniform shoes. Their appearance is unique, without them it is impossible to imagine a Russian soldier. For several decades, the soldiers of our army are shod in these rough, but, as practice shows, strong boots. I liked inexpensive toes shoes and ordinary people: rural people, lovers of fishing and hunting. It does not miss any water or dirt, is surprisingly strong. And for many years now kirz boots have been in demand, although they have long been considered a relic of the past.

A bit of history

The word "kirza" is not a kind of skin, as some think, but the abbreviated name of the enterprise is the Kirov plant, where these boots are produced. The cake is a leatherette and is a multilayered strong cotton fabric treated with a film-forming substance. To give the material a kind of rough natural leather, it is embossed.

And it all began with the search for the material for sewing soldiers' boots. The skin was too expensive, the state was not able to provide the soldiers with shoes made of natural material. An inexpensive, strong substitute was needed, suitable for use in harsh army conditions.

The first to begin experiments with the development of the crozza Russian scientist Mikhail Pomortsev. Only then it was not called that way. Boots began to be called "kirzachi" when they were launched into mass production during the Great Patriotic War. The first experiments M. Pomortsev conducted with rubber, but they were unsuccessful. Boots made of such material could not withstand the load imposed on them and broke. Before the start of the Great Patriotic War, the development of material for soldiers' boots was continued by engineer Ivan Plotnikov, and this time they were crowned with success. The work was carried out in a short time, and in 1942 the production of soldier's footwear was already established.

Thus, Russia became the main manufacturer of tarpaulin boots. The lower part and the sock are made of yufti, and the bootleg is made of crozza, which makes the production process cheaper. More than 80% of the plant's production is intended for the army.

Cobblers boots. Our days

Soldiers still wear tarpaulin boots, although attempts are being made to transfer the military to boots with lacing.

Kirt boots protect the legs of soldiers from any external influences, as well as from heat and frost. They are adapted for long hikes in forests and marshes. The sole is made of durable rubber and fastened with nails. The sock and back are made of yufti, the bootleg is made of crochets. The hard back and the granite toe cap provide stability to the foot. The crocheted boots have proven themselves in extreme conditions.

As already mentioned, they are in demand and on the citizen. When buying, you need to know that the boots are sewn in the light of the fact that they will be worn on footcloths, so thin socks in them will immediately tear, and legs will be uncomfortable. Today everyone can buy tarpaulin boots. Prices for them range from 800 to 1000 rubles, and they will not wear out. They are sold both in clothing stores and on Internet trading platforms.
