Kirov's population: historical overview, sex and age structure, ethnic composition, by rayon

Kirov is a city on the river Vyatka. It is located northeast of Moscow, the distance between it and the capital is 896 km. The city is the center of the Kirov municipal formation and the region of the same name. It was here that they first started making the famous Dymkovo toy. Its manufacture is one of the oldest crafts, which originated in the 15th-16th centuries in Russia. The city is not only a historical and cultural, but also an industrial center of the Urals. However, the population of Kirov and its agglomeration is estimated today to only 750 thousand people.

Historical overview

Let's start with that, until 1457 and in 1780-1934. The city was called Vyatka, and from 1457 to 1780. - Khlinov. Only in 1934 he was given the modern name. For the first time the city is mentioned in 1374. However, there is no information about the population of Kirov during this period. It is believed that at the end of the XVI century there lived about a thousand people. The first official information refers to 1811. Then the population of Kirov was 4,200 people. The first educational institutions were already functioning in the city. One of them was a theological seminary.

The population of Kirov began to increase because of the development of manufactory production. The city is known as a place of political exile. There was also Saltykov-Shchedrin, and Herzen. In 1913 the population of Kirov was already 46.4 thousand people. Thus, over the century, this indicator increased tenfold. A significant increase occurred in the First and Second World Wars, because it was here that people fled in the hope of finding shelter. In 1989 there were already 440,000 people living in Kirov. During the period that has passed since the collapse of the USSR, the city's population has increased by 14%. As of 2017, 501,468 people live in the city.

Sex and age structure

The city ranks 37th in population in the rating of the largest settlements of the Russian Federation. Most of the inhabitants are women. Men make up only 44% of the population. The overwhelming majority of Kirov residents are representatives of the older generation. Young people want to move to St. Petersburg or Moscow. The able-bodied population of the city of Kirov is 310.6 thousand people. However, in practice, many of them do not work in the settlement where they are registered.

Ethnic groups

According to the latest All-Russian population census, which was conducted in 2010, the overwhelming majority of Kirov residents consider themselves Russians. Their share of the total number of persons who indicated their nationality is 96.65%. It should be noted that only 4.65% of the residents did not leave marks in the corresponding column of the census form.

The population of Kirov, which belongs to other nationalities, is 3.35% of the total. They are representatives of such ethnic groups as the Tatars, Ukrainians, Mari, Udmurts, Azeris, Byelorussians and Armenians.

Administrative-territorial division

The population of the city of Kirov lives in four districts: Leninsky, Oktyabrsky, Novovyatsky and Pervomaisk. None of them is a municipal entity. Also within the city enclave, there are microdistricts such as Pobedilovo and Lyangasovo.

Modern administrative-territorial division of Kirov was fixed in 2008. Prior to this, the city included three rural and five village districts. It should be understood that the administrative-territorial division of Kirov is quite formal. Average residents rarely identify themselves with official areas. They will rather remember the Center with its Theater Square, which houses the City Hall, a fountain, a monument to Lenin, a university and for some reason a basketball court.

There are practically no "Khrushchevs", houses in the district are "stalinkas" or new layouts. Real estate in the Center is the most expensive in the city. Any kirovskan with ease will show, where is the area of Tanka, TSUMa or Circus. The only McDonald's in Kirov is located in the USP.

And the most criminal areas are Lepse, Comintern, Novovyatsk and Fileka. Workers without education who used to be drinkers were given jobs here earlier. This led to the fact that due to their employment and way of life, the next generation grew without the supervision of their parents, many of them managed to stay "on a tiny child". Here is the cheapest property in Kirov. The land in the suburbs is inexpensive, so the dacha can afford not only wealthy residents, but also ordinary middle class.
