Kangaroo, koala and wombat are amazing marsupials of Australia

It is interesting that the marsupial animals of Australia in no way have a relationship with the placental representatives of the fauna, that is, for example, marsupial wolf and common (placental) - this is by no means the same animal. But related ties bind the marsupials together. For some reason, there is not one "own" placental mammal in Australia, although its living conditions are similar to Asian ones! Now we will introduce you to some species of Australian marsupial mammals: kangaroo, koala and wombat.

Kangaroo - all jumper jumpers

This herbivorous marsupial, inhabiting Australia, they are known to nearly 50 species. The history of his name is quite amusing. Once the Europeans landed in Australia. The first thing that caught his eye was this animal. They tried to find out from local Aborigines how this mammal is called, to which they were given the answer: "Kangaroo!". Europeans, of course, thought that this is the name of the local outlandish beast, but it was not so at all! Already much later, everyone learned that the "kangaroo" in translation from the native language - it's "I do not understand!" And the name "kangaroo" has taken root and finally got hold of this amazing animal.

Marsupials of Australia are just unique creatures! Of these, the kangaroo is perhaps the most peculiar and amazing mammal. Particularly touches, when from the bag of my mother peeps a curious face of a cub-kangurenka. After a moment he jumps out of Mom's "pocket" and starts to frolic, but if there is any danger, he immediately jumps back to his mother (no matter how strange it sounds). Kangaroos are peaceful creatures, but they are able to stand up for themselves and the cubs. Their back, very strong limbs - a serious "weapon", capable of inflicting terrible wounds on the enemy. Kangaroo quickly transfers the weight of the whole body to his strong and elastic tail, and with the released hind legs causes a crushing blow to the target! But, like all peaceful animals, these creatures prefer to flee, and fight only in the most extreme cases. Kangaroo rushes in giant jerks, pushing back with powerful hind legs. Surprisingly, the length of one jump reaches 12 meters, and its height - up to 3 meters! No wonder this marsupial animal of Australia was nicknamed the best jumper on the whole of our planet!

"Eucalyptus Bear"

Koalas, or otherwise "eucalyptus bears" - are the same marsupial animals of Australia, like kangaroos. All their life they spend on eucalyptus trees, feeding on only their young leaves and shoots. Koalas sleep for 18 hours (!) Per day (take a look at the photo). Previously, these "bears" were of value to humans because of their fur, but now hunting for them is strictly prohibited. Although, unfortunately, there are poachers everywhere and everywhere.

Wombat sits in the trench, like a battalion commander

Another marsupial animals of Australia are wombats. They live on the surface of the earth or in dug holes, reminiscent of trenches. In one such "trench" there can be several wombats. These animals are active at night: it is at this time they go to their "herbivorous" hunt - to feed on grass and rootlets of various plants.

They are such amazing and unique - marsupial animals of Australia!
