Spin-off of the "Vampire Diaries" tells about the ancient clan of vampires. In the center of events is a charismatic esthete named Klaus Michaelson. He spent many years in exile, but returned to his homeland and found himself in the maelstrom of family secrets. The party of the selfish, but very charming bloodsucker was taken over by Joseph Morgan. "Ancient" became the first popular series, in which it was approved for the leading role.

Although before that there was a full-length film in which he received a key part - it's about Ben Gur's 2010 release.

How did the project come about

In an interview, the actor told me that, having started acting in the "Vampire Diaries", he decided that it is unlikely that his hero could attract public attention for a long time. Moreover, the Englishman was not eager to stay in the show for a long time. However, the moment came when he radically changed his mind, and it happened after the ninth series of the third season of the project.

Having played a dramatic scene of meeting with his father and his subsequent murder, the performer of the role of Klaus went to producer Julie Plek and told her that he would be glad if his character were left alive and extended his existence for another season. A week later he was informed that Michaelson would not die in the near future. However, this was not the main news, which Joseph Morgan recognized then: "Ancient" - the second series in which Klaus will appear, and his role will be the main one.

Joseph Morgan was born in London on May 16, 1981, but spent his childhood in the small town of Swansea. Studying at Morriston's school, the young man began to devote much time to the theater. Subsequently, he graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he was an active participant in various performances.

Returning to London, he felt himself a stranger in this city for a long time, but did not plan to part with his chosen profession. It is worth mentioning the first images that embodied on the screens of Joseph Morgan. "Ancient" - a series in which he played, already an experienced actor, and first he had to take mostly for episodic roles in such television tapes as "Silent Witness", "Heroic", "Henry the Eighth" and others.
