Bedspread on the sofa with your own hands. Bedspreads on the sofa: photo, patterns

Sewing bedspread on the sofa with your own hands is not so difficult, as it may seem at first glance. The most important thing is to make the right measurements and choose the fabric suitable for the common interior.

How to sew a blanket on the sofa with your own hands?

Here are some tips to help you make a coverlet.

  1. The amount of fabric should be slightly larger than the size of the sofa, since a stock of about ten centimeters on each side is needed.
  2. Choose a fabric that does not slip, or make a lining. Otherwise, the veil will often fall off the couch.
  3. Determine in advance where the veil will be located - only on the seat of the sofa, on the seat and back, or maybe even on the armrests, if any.
  4. Better use a sewing machine. So less time will go into the process itself, and the seams will turn out to be more accurate and reliable.
  5. To give a thick veil, make a layer of insulation (for example, from the batting).
  6. Decorate the bedspread with frills or stitches.

Simple blanket

To make a simple blanket on the sofa with your own hands (for example, as in the picture below), you will need:

  • A large cloth flap of the required size (you can use a canvas with a bright print);
  • Wide ribbon;
  • Tailoring scissors;
  • Needles-pins;
  • Thread in the tone of the fabric.

We give the instruction: how to sew a simple blanket.

  1. Take your cloth flap and tape.
  2. Gently pin the tape to the material so that it covers it from two sides. It is also necessary to wrap a small piece of the edge of the tape (several millimeters) inside the doorway so that it does not fall off during use.
  3. When you correctly draw a tape around the entire perimeter of the fabric, go to the line.
  4. Place the fabric with the tape under the sewing machine's foot face up.
  5. Stitch the fabric around the perimeter.

A simple blanket on the sofa with your own hands is done!

A tape can be replaced with a second layer of fabric, preferably it was a fleece. Then the new flap should be slightly larger than the first one. The sewing scheme changes slightly.

  1. Put one piece of cloth on the other so that the top is like the center of the bottom, that is, the last one should look out from all sides.
  2. Wrap the free edges of the lower layer up and in.
  3. Sweep, then stitch the fabric.

All is ready.

Quilt cover patchwork

Patchwork is a rather popular modern style in decor, implying the connection of several scraps with different color and pattern into one.

Bedspread in the patchwork style will not only be a useful thing in the house, but also a part of the interior decoration.

In order to sew such a wonderful thing, it will take more than one piece of cloth, and several different square shreds. Usually for sewing use a set of five to ten pieces.

So, the order of work.

  1. Imagine what your veil should look like as a result. A little above is a pattern. The coverlet in a concrete example, as can be seen, consists of six scraps laid out in a certain order, which form a rhombus pattern.
  2. For the convenience of sewing, lay out the shreds in front of you in color in a pile, which you put in the order of sewing.
  3. Begin to spend on the sewing machine among themselves shreds from 1 to 6 in the established order.
  4. Finish the series, adhering to the scheme.
  5. Tear each row separately.
  6. Now you can begin to stitch them together. Do not forget to check their order and match the pattern.
  7. Since the veil is of a large size, it will be more convenient to first stitch one half, and then the second one. Then sew together.
  8. Thus, the upper part is already ready for you.
  9. Take a large one-piece cloth flap that is slightly larger than the sewn top cover of the veil.
  10. You can use an additional layer of insulation.
  11. Stitch between the top patchwork layer and the bottom, as in the case of a simple coverlet.

The patchwork patchwork is ready. It will look something like the picture.

Quilted pattern on the coverlet

Coverlet can be decorated with a quilted pattern. Additional materials are not required, but the result will be simply amazing.

Before sewing quilted bedspreads on the sofa (photo above), you need to draw a pattern (for example, a diamond). To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On a sheet of paper, make a sketch of the veil with the intended pattern on the scale.
  2. Sketch with chalk the desired life-size pattern on the back of the fabric. Check if it fits well all over the veil. If so, you can proceed to the final stitch.

To do this, draw a picture on the front of the veil. Patterns start from the edge, not from the middle. Better use large-sized squares and diamonds, rather than small ones.

After you draw a pattern across the cover, proceed with a stitch on the sewing machine. In this case without it certainly can not do. Do the stitches neatly on the front side of the bedspread over the pre-planned lines.

Finally, remove the thread that you designed the pattern.

Cover on the coverlet

Cleaning - another idea for decorating the covers on the sofa (photo is shown below).

The order of work for its implementation will be as follows.

  1. Take a cloth of the necessary width. In the course you can start up as a new piece, and trim, which remained from sewing the veil.
  2. Stitch all the fabric from one side of the fabric so that it does not fall off.
  3. Fold the cut with an easy accordion and start to tinker with it.

In this case, if you want the frill to be visible, then place it on top, having previously tucked its edge inward. You can do both one and two lines. If you want to hide the frill, then tie it to the veil on the back.

Bedspread on the corner sofa

Sewing the bedspread on the corner sofa is a little more difficult than for the usual one. Here you need to take extra measurements and spend a few details.

The procedure for doing this is as follows:

  1. Remove the measurements from the two parts of the sofa.
  2. Sew cover first on one part, and then on the other.
  3. When both halves are ready, sew them together on the back side, slightly at an angle.

Bedspread is ready. Now you can decorate it, for example, with a frill.
