Jean-Christophe Granger is a French screenwriter and writer. For a long time, he worked with various publications as a freelance journalist. The experience he received later proved useful to him in the writing of novels, which often deal with the themes of political extremism, international terrorism, the activities of occult organizations. It is about this modern master of the detective story and the thriller that will be discussed in our article.

Biography: Grange Jean-Christophe

Date of birth of the writer - July 15, 1961. Motherland - France. Jean-Christophe was born in the town of Boulogne-sur-Mer. France has always been famous for excellent writers, writers, musicians, artists, directors, etc. Grange was no exception. He very quickly gained vast experience as a correspondent, international reporter, screenwriter and finally a writer.

After graduation, he enters the famous French university of the Sorbonne. Here he studies anthropology and philology. The writer received a master's degree for the work dedicated to Gustav Flaubert. The great advantage in ending the Sorbonne was that in those years this university opened up to its students great prospects after graduation.

Beginning of work

Grange Jean-Christophe (whose biography is presented here) after graduation decides to start small and gets a job in a small advertising agency copywriter. And by 1989, when Grange was 28 years old, the writer became famous as an international correspondent, collaborating with such well-known magazines as Paris Match, National Geographic and Sunday Times.

Almost immediately after this, Grange founded his own company L & G and now only works for her, paying all his trips on his own. Those articles that he wrote, being in different countries, during this period, formed the basis for future action-packed works.

Soon, Granger's journalistic talent was awarded. The first he received in 1991 - the prize "Reuters", and the second - in 1992 - the prize of the World Press.

The beginning of a career as a novelist

In 1994, Jean-Christophe made a big step in a new area for himself - he wrote his first novel entitled "Flight of Storks". The work was seen and evaluated by criticism, but among the general public, special popularity was not received. But the next work, "Purple River", published in 1998, was well received by the public. This success led to the fact that the novel was filmed in 2000.

In the same year in which the Purple Rivers were published, the writer received for this novel the annual French literary prize Grand prix RTL-Lire, established in 1992. The prize was awarded according to the results of the vote of a group of readers.

Family life

Grange Jean-Christophe (all the author's books will be presented below) was married three times. From marriages he has four children: Matilda, Louis, Keito and Eese. The first wife of the writer was journalist Virginia Luke, it was to her that he dedicated his first work "Flight of storks". Then Grange had married Priscilla Tellmon, to whom he had dedicated the book The Empire of the Wolf. However, this marriage was short-lived. And already the novel "Kaiken" was a gift for the next chosen one - actress and model Lika Minamoto.

Script writer and producer

Jean-Christophe is also known as a screenwriter and producer. Basically, he acted in these roles in the adaptation of his books, for example, "Crimson River", "Empire of the Wolf", "The Brotherhood of Stone", "Mizerere." There are in his list and work on the series: "Flight of storks" and "Passenger". The only film that was not the adaptation of the novel, but in which Grange became a screenwriter - "Vidok", released in 2001.

It should be noted and the fact that the writer wrote the text of the comic book "The Curse of Zener."

"Flight of storks"

It's time to consider in which style Granger is writing Jean-Christophe. The list of books of the writer will begin with his first novel, published in his homeland in 1994. In other languages he was transferred much later.

The plot of the book: the main character - a young philosopher-scientist Louis Antioch - meets with a friend of his adoptive parents, Bem, who is a famous ornithologist from Switzerland. Bem suggests that he help him trace the way of storing the storks in order to find out the reason why several hundred birds that have gone to winter have not returned to their nests in Europe. Louis agrees, but on the eve of departure he discovers the family friend is dead. The hero seems strange and suspicious this combination of circumstances, and that Bem died his death, he is not sure. Therefore, Louis decides to independently accomplish his intended other journey and figure out what's wrong. And in a few days the hero becomes clear that he got involved in a very dangerous adventure.

It would seem, what relation the detective plot can have to the migration of birds? But Grange was able to make this really exciting story with a very unpredictable outcome.

"Purple rivers"

This is the author's second novel, which was published four years after the publication of the first one. It was this work that brought Granger a real success with the reader. In addition, this novel formed the basis of the film "Crimson River", where the writer first appeared as a screenwriter. The picture was a success.

The plot of the novel: the detective's action takes place in a small campus in the Alps, which in a matter of weeks is gripped by horror - one by one in the city committed incredible cruelty crimes. Every now and then, the police and locals discover the mutilated bodies of the victims of an unknown maniac. The killer seems to be scattering them in the city and around, corpses are found in the thick of glaciers, in the crevice of the rock, in the attics of houses. The case is taken by the detective Nyeman, who decided at all costs to stop the horror around him. However, the investigation leads him only to new victims of the crime.

"The Brotherhood of Stone"

Jean-Christophe published this detective story in 2000. This is the third work of the writer. The book was also filmed.

The plot of the book: the main character - Diana Tiberge - was a victim of violence when she was young. This incident left a serious imprint on her entire future. Rest and happiness of the heroine can be found only after the adoption of an orphaned child in Thailand. The child Diane calls Lucien. In Paris, the heroine with the adopted son falls into a big car accident. Lucien is seriously injured, his life is under threat. However, there is a German doctor who manages to get the boy out of a coma. But immediately after this the doctor is found dead. The heroine has the idea that the accident was not just an accident, and that the target of the unknown attacker was Lucien. Diane begins an investigation that leads her to Mongolia. It is here that she has to find out the truth, which will terrify Diana herself and the readers.

"The Empire of the Wolves"

The 2003 book, which was also filmed in 2005. Jean-Christophe acted as a screenwriter.

The plot: the main character is a happy young woman named Anna Geimz. She is pretty, smart and rich. She has a successful marriage with loving and beloved man Laurent, who holds a high post in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She is a welcome guest at any refined receptions and parties. However, Anna at night tormenting terrible nightmares. What caused her failures in memory, why she does not recognize the faces of her acquaintances and even the person closest to her Laurent? Maybe she's going crazy? Laurent offers his wife to undergo psychiatric treatment, but the whole nature of Anna opposes it. The heroine begins her investigation, which should reveal to her the terrible secrets of her prosperous life.

"Black line"

Jean-Christophe Granger has written a detective story by 2004. Note that this is not the most successful work of the author, perhaps it is caused by a short writing time.

The plot of the book: the scene of action - Southeast Asia. Here, in the hut of Jacques Reverdy, the former world diving champion, they discover the brutally mutilated corpse of a young Danish tourist. Once the sportsman was already in the field with the eyes of the police and was suspected of just a serious murder, but the case was closed because of a lack of evidence. At the interrogations, Reverdy is silent, so he is decided to put him in a psychiatric hospital. At this point, the journalist Marc Dupair, who is very interested in the identity of the alleged murderer, intervenes. To summon Reverdy to frankness, he begins to write letters to him from the young girl's face.

"Sworn in to the darkness"

Jean-Christophe Granger is a French writer who works exclusively in the genres of detective and thriller. The book of 2007 "Sworn to Darkness" did not become an exception.

Plot: Mathieu Durey, a criminal investigation officer, unexpectedly learns that his old friend Luke, also working in the police, tried to commit suicide. Durey begins to be interested in the circumstances of the incident and finds out that Luke was investigating the strange murders that are occurring throughout Europe. All these crimes are united by satanic symbols, besides, criminals have learned to somehow influence the process of decomposition of a corpse. Gradually it turns out that all the alleged criminals survived to whom and clinical death. Mathieu comes to a terrible conclusion - perhaps all these people serve Satan, who brought them back to life.

"Miserere"

The writer Jean-Christophe Granger has published this thriller in 2008. The book tells about the murder of the Chilean refugee Wilhelm Goetz in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Here the deceased served as the regent of the boys' choir and organist. As soon as Kasdan finds out about this, a retired policeman and parishioner of the temple, he immediately begins his investigation. Kasdan joins a policeman from the department for the protection of minors Volokin. It turns out that in the past the boys from the temple choir have disappeared more than once. The first murder follows the second. A dangerous game begins in which the heroes will have to be sorted out.

"Forest of the Dead" (2009)

Thriller talks about a series of ritual murders that make even experienced Parisian policemen shudder. In Paris, a maniac acts, not only brutally killing his victims, but also eating their flesh. There are many versions about the psycho-autistic, the sadist-pervert, the satanist, but to find the truth it is necessary for investigating judge Jeanne. A woman will overcome Guatemala and Nicaragua to find herself in Argentine swamps. It is here that the reason for what is happening in Paris is a nightmare.

In addition to these works, Grange Jean-Christophe (pictured in the article) is the author of four other novels: "Passenger" (2011), "Kaiken" (2012), "Lottano" (2015), which was dedicated to the daughters Keito and Ezy, " Congo. Requiem "(2016). The last book has not yet been translated into Russian.
