Internet - World Wide Web

And what is the Internet? You can explain in a few words, what is its physical nature, what does it consist of? With air, the situation is even simpler: a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen. What is the Internet?

To begin with, it is necessary to clarify the scale of this phenomenon. The Internet is used not just by millions of people, but by billions - by almost half of all inhabitants of the Earth. You can understand the word "Internet" as a world wide web with information that is hosted by servers - powerful computers that are connected to this web around the clock.

The Internet was born in 1969 as a result of the ten-year work of American scientists to create a communications system in case of war on assignment and with funding from the US government. The moment of the first communication session between the two universities, in which only one word was transmitted, is considered the date of the birth of the Internet.

In the early seventies, the first e-mail was invented, which immediately began to gain popularity. Other countries began to connect to the network, and it became international. However, the first network, which was called ARPANET, was destined to die in conditions of competition with another network, which in 1984 founded the National Science Foundation of the United States. The new network had a large capacity, and in 1990 the ARPANET network ceased to exist.

In the early 90s, the world wide web became widely available, the first web browser was invented, and since then the Internet has been steadily growing. And its growth is indeed impressive: the rate of increase in the audience of the Internet is two times higher than the rate of increase in the audience of cable television, three times - television and 8 times - radio.

The Internet consists of a variety of different networks, united by the IP protocol and the principles of routing data packets. Any corporate, scientific, government or home network sends data, and on the joints of these networks, special routers send data to the desired IP address.

In Russia, the Internet was born in the Institute of Atomic Energy, and in 1990 the Russian network connected to the world one. In the same year, the .su top-level domain was registered. In 1994 there was a domain .ru, and in 2010 - .rf.

The Internet does not have a single owner, so it unites the networks of many countries. For the same reason, it can not be completely turned off. The Internet in connection with its overall availability is full of both harmful and useful opportunities. The Internet is used for communication, dating, information retrieval, transmission and storage of data. Businessmen use the Internet to make money, scammers - to steal information, extortion, attacks, etc.

In 2011, the human right to use the Internet was officially approved, so restricting access to someone's network is a crime that violates human rights.

Today not only large companies, but also the smallest firms have their own sites. The business of making and promoting websites on the Internet is developing at a rapid pace. It is not possible to imagine a commercial project that would not use the Internet for its purposes, starting with corporate correspondence, coordinating documentation with customers and ending with whole projects made directly on the Internet.

It is not uncommon to meet people who do not go to work, but work at home on the Internet. For earning on the Internet there is a huge number of opportunities: due to its steady growth, there is a growing need for specialists serving various areas of activity in the network.
