Inguinal hernia in men: causes, symptoms, treatment.

Due to anatomical features inguinal hernia in men is more common than in women. The fact is that the inguinal canal of representatives of the stronger sex is naturally wide and short, it is less supported by the muscles and the tendon layer, and therefore it becomes possible to form inguinal hernia.

What threatens hernia with a strong sex?

Inguinal hernia is a pathology in which the contents of the cavity pass through the inguinal canal beyond the border of the abdominal wall. It can be an epiploon, loops of the intestine. Such a defect can occur in the baby and at birth, however, most often inguinal hernia in men appears in adulthood.

Inguinal hernia is formed as a result of an increase in intra-abdominal pressure, because of which an opening appears in the inguinal canal. In healthy men with well-trained lower press such problems usually do not arise, but less "athletic" representatives of the stronger sex risk having an illness at any strain of the muscles of the press. In addition to direct causes, there are also factors that affect the appearance of a hernia. These include bronchitis, obesity, excessive unregulated physical activity, weak muscles and ligaments, disorders in the work of the intestine.

Types of inguinal hernia:

  1. External - most common in the elderly, characterized by a significant prolapse in the hernial sac, reaching with time large sizes;
  2. Combined - these are two or three hernial sacs, which do not communicate with each other.
  3. Sliding - in such a hernial content contains visceral peritoneum, which envelops sliding organs.

Symptoms of inguinal hernia.

If the bladder falls into the hernial contents, then the patient may experience a rubbing in the urinary canal, frequent urges. Inguinal hernia in men, the symptoms of which are observed for a long time, threatens to be restrained, and if a herbaceous process joins the hernial contents, this is a guarantee of the rapid development of appendicitis.

If there are suspicions of inguinal hernia, patients should consult a doctor as soon as possible. By the appearance of the hernial sac, the internal contents of the doctor will conduct differential diagnosis and ascertain or refute the diagnosis. It is important to remember that the existing hernia can not give symptoms. To such asymptomatic are small hernias, which themselves recover when lying down.

Modern medicine can diagnose hernias more accurately. This became possible with the use of ultrasound diagnostics. On uzi it is possible to see a hernial contents, to define a kind of a hernia, the size of a hernial gate. Such diagnostics provide invaluable data for the preparation of the operation - the surgeon has the opportunity to prepare in advance the technique of hernia repair, which significantly increases the chances of successful intervention.

If an inguinal hernia is diagnosed in men, the operation is most likely to be necessary. Urgent intervention is performed with a weakened inguinal hernia, so that necrosis of the hernial contents does not begin and organ perforation does not occur
