In the future we dismantle the crank from the crankshaft - unscrew the fastening bolt and tighten it using two screwdrivers. If the ratchet key is held firmly on the shaft, then it is also recommended to remove it. Then remove the oil receiver from the engine. To do this, unscrew the two bolts of its attachment to the bearing of the crankshaft bearing and one to the oil pump. Then we dismantle the oil pump by turning off the six bolts. Now we have access to the cuff. Using a powerful flat screwdriver, remove the engine radial seal from its seat in the pump cover.

Installation of a new radial sealant

Immediately before the installation of a new part, we carefully rinse the lid in gasoline and wipe it with rags. The seat of the cuff is pre-lubricated with a thin layer of motor oil. Observing the correct location of the stuffing box in the lid, install it in place. In addition, using a special mandrel, press the radial seal so that it seeps into the production hole. It is important not to damage the lip seal. Then it is necessary to proceed with mounting all the removed parts to the engine, observing the entire technological sequence of the process. Despite certain difficulties, it can still be done independently at home. Of course, it is more convenient to work with a partner.

Quick replacement

There is another, more rapid way to replace the lip seal. But he's a little risky. At the heart of the method is the absence of the need to remove the sump, oil sump and oil pump. The cuff changes directly on the engine. The disadvantage of this method is the inconvenience of carrying out the work. In addition, there is a possibility that the stuffing box will not be pressed enough into the oil pump cover. There is a risk of damage to the glossy coating of the crankshaft - accordingly, there is a possibility of occurrence of new leaks.

Mounting the new seal part

Before installing a new seal, wipe the rags in the saddle and lubricate it with oil. Using a mandrel with a diameter of ninety-nine millimeters and a hammer, press the new rear cuff into place. Carry out this stage of work with special care, so as not to damage the element. After the radical packing is pressed, replacing the cuff liner is the next required step of the work. The old gasket is removed (if it has become stuck, you can trim it neatly with a knife), and a new one is installed in its place.

Install the stuffing box housing on the engine

In order not to damage the radial seal during installation, it is necessary to apply a layer of oil to the surface of the crankshaft flange. Mounting the body of the sealant in its place, we correct the lip of the stuffing box with a screwdriver so that it does not have kinks. You can use a kyanku for planting, but do not strongly zealous. Next, you need to start assembling the power unit in the reverse order of the disassembly process. All the work on replacing the glands of the radicals can be considered complete.
