How to make a self-made incubator

Do you know that a self-made incubator is just as good as a purchased one? So why waste money then. Let's look at how to make the incubator yourself.

Most often small-sized incubators are used in the farm. A standard home incubator is usually designed for a small number of eggs (from 30 to 200 pieces). Make it not so difficult, as it seems at first glance. But a self-made incubator must meet basic requirements. Firstly, the temperature in which the eggs are located should be in the range from 37.3 to 38.6 degrees. For placing in an incubator eggs are selected "younger" 10 days. Secondly, the humidity should not be lower than 40 and above 60 percent before hanging, and after - above 80. But before you decide to get chickens, you need to lower the humidity.

There are two options for placing the eggs inside the incubator - vertically (with a sharp end to the bottom) or horizontally. If they lie vertically, then the trays should be tilted to the left and right at an angle exceeding 45 degrees. If horizontal - roll the eggs 180 degrees. Try to turn the eggs once an hour. If you do not have time, forget and eventually do it less than three times a day, chickens are unlikely to hatch. However, stop turning them around three days before the hack. And do not forget about ventilation!

Homemade incubator can be made from a simple cardboard box (for example, from under the TV). To give it a lot of rigidity, build a frame of racks and mount it porcelain cartridges (4 pieces). Why porcelain, so that they do not accidentally catch fire. Screw in them 25-watt electric bulbs each. Three will warm up the eggs themselves, and the fourth will be needed for the operation of the humidifier bath, which is suitable for dishes with water (it is better to use a small tray). Make sure that the distance between the lamps and the eggs is not less than 17 centimeters (under the grille - 15 centimeters). You will also need a thermometer, with which you will monitor the temperature inside the incubator.

The front wall should be made removable, with shoulders, covered with cardboard. It can be fixed by twisting. Through such a removable wall, grilles with a humidifying tray are inserted. It will also help you when turning eggs and replacing old water. In the incubator cover, make a window (12 by 8 centimeters) to follow the thermometer readings. At the same time, it will act as a vent. Cover it with glass, but in any case not to the end, leave at least a centimeter gap.

In the floor (along long walls), it is necessary to make three identical holes with a diameter of 1.5 centimeters. Do not close them - this will be additional ventilation. And to increase the humidity in the bathtub, put a damp cloth (wash it every two days). In the lumens, which are between the slats, eggs are laid. For a convenient turn of eggs, release one cell. No cooling devices are provided, since during the povert the eggs themselves are cooled.

As you saw, the self-made incubator has a right to exist, and if you are planning to breed the birds, try starting with it.
