How to lay the laminate properly?

In order to understand how to lay the laminate properly, you need to find out what the material is. It is specially designed for flooring, does not require special care and is designed for long-term use. As a basis for the manufacture of laminate is taken plate of fiberboard (wood-fiber), which has increased strength. The outer side of the panel is pasted with a paper layer on the surface of which a pattern is imprinted, simulating in most cases a wood texture. Over this layer a protective film of high strength is applied, which serves to protect the laminated surface from moisture, abrasion and sunlight.

Depending on the class of the laminate, the material for different rooms is chosen. For example, for a bedroom and public places these types will be different. The bottom of the fiberboard is also pasted with paper, which is impregnated with special compounds and resins, which protect the substrate from moisture and act as a waterproofing. With the help of special locks, with which the panels border around the perimeter, they are assembled into strata and joined together. The length of the panels varies from 1 to 1.5 m, width 0.2 m, and thickness from 6 to 11 mm.

Before laying a laminate, it is necessary to check the condition of the very bottom of the floor. In addition to the plane and horizontality of surfaces, you need to ensure the reliability of the base. If, for example, wooden floors are used as the basis, you can not allow them to creak, bend when walking or there were places of subsidence. If there are any problems, before installing the laminate, they should be repaired. On the concrete floor, we use a laminate only after the screed has been either equipped or the floor surface will be leveled with the "bulk" mixture. After preparing the floor, before laying the laminate, it is necessary to lay a waterproofing layer, the thickness of which directly depends on the floor of your house.

After buying a laminate it is recommended to leave it indoors for a few days. This is done so that the material collects the necessary temperature and humidity.

To begin to put a laminate it is necessary from a window that at a daylight illumination joints were not appreciable. From the wall material is separated by removable inserts or gaskets, which provide a gap of at least 10 mm. The subsequent laying of the laminate differs due to the fact that the panels can be either with locks (Lock) or with collapsible locks (Click). Laminate of the latter type is characterized by the greatest connection strength and has the lowest percentage of damage to the panels during installation.

After laying the first row of the laminate along the wall, the second one is assembled (without the insertion of the lock parts). Combination of the end seams is not allowed, a "chess" butt spread is used. The most successful option is considered when there is an integer number of panels in the row, because if you have to cut at least one panel and start the next row with halves, the closing link will be the remainder. After collecting the second row, it should be raised approximately 45 degrees, inserted into the lock clamp, and then smoothly lowered until the panels are fully fixed. Distribute the load on the floor evenly and strengthen the joints allowing the end-to-end displacement of the panels.

Before laying a laminate with Lock locks, you should know that they are assembled a little differently. Here, the next panel, laying on the floor, is connected to the first soft tapping through the gasket (usually in its role appears the edge of the panel itself). The ends and corners are riveted with the help of a special Z-shaped bracket, and the chess displacement of the joints is preserved. It is not recommended to tighten panels when connecting. This for the worse will change the appearance, since it will lead to swelling of the edges of the panels. The main condition for success when laying a laminate - it's neat!
