How to get there: Lake Krasavitsa. Map of the Leningrad Region detailed

Lake Krasavitsa is one of more than 1800 lakes of the Leningrad Region. Thousands of citizens and residents of the surrounding areas, who are attracted by the fresh air and the beauty of nature, rest every year in the Vyborgsky District of the Leningrad Region. Petersburgers who plan to spend the weekend on the shore of the reservoir often have a question about how to get there. Lake Krasavitsa is located near the highway, so you can reach it either by car or by bus from the railway platform of the nearest major settlement - Zelenogorsk.

Historical reference on the origin of the lake

Karelian Isthmus has a peculiar geological structure. It is called the country of lakes and granite. Here the traces of the activity of the receding glacier are particularly noticeable. The direction of its movement is evidenced by deep and long pits, which, after the melting of the ice, were filled with water. Such glacial lakes include Krasavitsa - an extremely picturesque pond with clear clear water.

Why is it so called?

The official name, which is Lake Krasavitsa, is the Great Lake of Simago. It obviously originated from the nearby village of Simagino, named after sergeant Simagin NP, who fought and died near the village during the Great Patriotic War. Closer to the village is a small Simaginskoe lake. In the southeast of Simagino the Sister River flows - one of the largest on the Karelian Isthmus. From 1918 to 1939, the Soviet-Finnish border passed through it. The appearance of the name "Beauty" is not entirely clear. Either the lake became known as the locals and the name took root, or it is the translation of the former Finnish name "Kaukjärvi" (Beautiful Lake).

Description of the reservoir and its environs

The beauty is a lake (the photo can be seen on this page), which stretches almost 3 km from northwest to southeast, its width averages a little more than a kilometer. The maximum depth is 19 m. The bottom is level, sandy. The eastern coast is steep, steep, overgrown with pine trees, whose roots hold sandy cliffs from shedding. The forest surrounding the lake is very picturesque, with a predominance of such coniferous species as pine and spruce. The air here is fragrant, healthy and relaxing. The forests of the Karelian Isthmus are rich in blueberries and mushrooms.

From the south-west side the beach is gently sloping, mostly sandy, with caves. The western side is especially attractive for tourists, since there is a sandy beach and not very deep. From the north, the Yuli-Yoki River (the Upper River) flows into the lake, in the west flows Ala-Yoki (Lower River), which is directed to the Gulf of Finland. The process of mixing water in the lake is not very active, so that the upper layers during the summer can warm up to 23 ° C, while at a depth of 8-10 m the temperature does not rise above 15 ° C.

Nearby properties

Not far from the lake is the holiday village Ilyichevo (the former Yalkala). Here is the house-museum of VI. Lenin. In August 1917, he lived for several days in the house of the former St. Petersburg foundry worker PG. Parviainen before leaving for Finland. Here the museum of the history of the people of the Karelian Isthmus with an exhibition dedicated to the Winter War of 1939-1940 is open to visitors.

In the village there is a children's health camp "Ogonek". The camp on the lake has its own fenced-in beach. Parents of children who have a rest well know how to get there. Lake Krasavitsa is just 7 km from the railway station of Zelenogorsk.

Also in Ilyichev since 1947 the main experimental base of the State Hydrological Institute operates. Here there is a comprehensive study of natural waters, field research is conducted.

Near the village surrounded by pine forests is a resort hotel. Currently, the shores of the lake are actively built up, summer cottages are being created.

Recreation

Despite the changes, the lake is very popular both with the local population and with the residents of St. Petersburg. To date, Lake Krasavitsa, whose reviews are the most diverse, is one of the most visited in the summer. Since the swimming season in the reservoirs of the Karelian Isthmus is no more than two months (from the end of July to the end of August), everyone rushes to have time to enjoy the cool water and clean air. According to many, the lake lost its charm due to the active construction on its shores. Some complain that it is difficult to find a free place on the beach. Vacationers leave behind a lot of debris, pollute the beach. But this already claims not to the lake, but to people. But mostly visitors note positive points: a sandy beach, clean warm water off the coast, beautiful nature.

Fishing and winter entertainment

The pond also causes interest from fans to sit with a fishing rod. Lake Krasavitsa, reviews of which by experienced fishermen are very tempting, abounds in fish. Here there are perch, roach, bream, pike and even pikeperch. The fishermen here claim that at a time you can catch 5-7 kg of any fish of different sizes. You can catch as a fishing rod, and with the help of spinning. The lake is popular with winter fishing fans.

Attracts a pond of diving enthusiasts. The water in the lake is clean and transparent, although it is very cold in the depths.

In winter, the lake is also not deprived of the attention of tourists. In the resort village located on the shore of the lake, residents are offered to use sports equipment: skis, skates, Finnish sleds. There is a Finnish sauna, after which it is nice to plunge into an ice-hole with ice crystal water.

We decide how to get there: Lake Beauty is waiting for us

It is not difficult to get to the Big Simaginsky Lake. Zelenogorsk highway runs very close to the eastern shore. By car to the lake you can drive up both from Zelenogorsk and from Vyborg highway. Nearby there are lively trails: A120 (Kirovsk-Bolshaya Izhora), A122 (St. Petersburg-Pargolovo-Ogonki-Tolokonnikovo) and M10 Scandinavia (St. Petersburg-Vyborg). From the Ring Road ride about 30-40 minutes, but this is without taking into account the traffic jams, which often arise in the summer on weekends. Cars are usually left on the side of the highway, to the lake to go a little more than 100 m. To get to Ilichevo, you need to turn off the highway onto a dirt road near the "Yalkala Museum" signpost.

If you take the train to Lake Krasavitsa, Zelenogorsk will be the final travel station. Go from Finland Station for just over 50 minutes. From the railway platform to the side of the lake there are a lot of buses (numbers 404, 409, 410, 415, 552). You have to leave at the stop "Road to Ilyichevo", or, as it is also called, "Lake Beauty". From the city can be reached by minibus.
