History of creation

In the middle of the last century the city of Novomoskovsk was called Stalinogorsk and belonged to the Moscow region. Railroad tracks formed a closed ring, the order to start construction was signed on June 15, 1953. It's incredible, but all the work was done in the shortest possible time. And on December 21 of the same year, the grand opening of the children's railway in Novomoskovsk took place. On the same day the first rolling stock came off the rails and went on a flight.

The first year of its existence, the children's railway functioned properly, but it was departmental, that is, it belonged to the enterprise "Moskvaugol". However, at the beginning of the winter of 1954, the Ministry of Railways of the USSR became interested in the object. In December, the railway was officially transferred to the subordination of the Ministry of Railways. The first season of work with the new leadership was opened in May 1955, very often it is from this date begin to count the history of the existence of the object. At the same time, the official name "Small Moscow-Kursk-Donbass Railway" appears, consonant with the name of the main federal railways passing through the city. However, as early as 1961, the ring line in the city park was mentioned in all official documents, like the Novomoskovsk Children's Railway. Novomoskovsk leads its history under a new name from the same time, in addition, the city was transferred from Moscow to the Tula region.

Reconstruction and renovation

One of the most interesting events in the history of the modernization of the facility occurred in 1970. It was then that locomotives were replaced by diesel locomotives, in 1971 the diesel locomotive TU2-126, which was functioning today, was brought in. Reconstruction and minor repairs of railroad tracks and rolling stock were carried out in subsequent years. Over time, the number of wagons increased from 4 to 9.
