Hans Landa - the chief cynic and scoundrel of the bloodthirsty burlesque "Inglourious Basterds"

Colonel Land - a sadist and fetishist, an escud bloodhound, a cynic and a scoundrel - in the provocative project of Quentin Tarantino "Inglourious Basterds" unequaled Christopher Waltz on screen. His character uniquely entered the history of cinema.

Cinefil fantasy of Tarantino

Not surprisingly, the film "Inglourious Basterds" K. Tarantino caused a controversial reaction among regulars of the Cannes Film Festival. This time, one of the outstanding visionaries of the present day pleased the film community with an unconventional author's view of individual episodes of the Second World War.

According to the director, in this terrible time, not only fascist invaders were unlimited. On the territory of France supposedly operated a guerrilla formation of a special purpose, which consisted exclusively of American Jews. The detachment was not inferior in cruelty to the SS. For this reason alone, the picture should not be regarded as a historical epic, as there is as much credibility in it as in the Russian comedic tape "Hitler Kaput". This film story about how the Third Reich died of cinematography is an author's rethinking of the canonical genre - military thrash of the 70's.

Splitting into several movie novels

Hans Landa - one of the main characters of "Inglourious Basterds" - comes to the fore in two of the five movie novels that make up the picture. In the first, where he leads the highest psychological level of his level, the director is based on the psychological confrontation between Landa and the farmer.

According to the plot, the Frenchman Perier LaPadit (Denis Menoshe) is suspected by the Nazis in the concealment of the Dreyfus family of Jews, so the colonel SS, deservedly bearing the nickname "Hunter for the Jews", is sent to him. In the process of interrogation, conducted in the form of a skilful conversation, Hans Landa forces the farmer to extradite the unfortunate, and the Dreyfusov is shot. Only Shoshanna (Melanie Laurent) , the nineteen-year-old daughter of the Jewish couple, survives and disappears. This is how the spectator acquaints with one of the central characters - Colonel SS, the main antagonist, comparing Jews with rats because of their ability to survive in any conditions.

At the climax

Further, the narrative acquaints the audience with an equally bright gallery of characters. But in the fifth novel, which is the most suspense, Landa again comes to the fore. The top of the Nazi society, including the high command, is going to the premiere of the film "The Pride of the Nation" in the cinema of the surviving Shoshanna, who changed her name to Emmanuel Mimieux. The effect of the narrative is added to individual episodes, such as when the Hitler, coming out of the box, asks for a chewing gum from the guards. But the "Bastards" are not asleep, they are going to blow up the building, and obsessed with Shoshanna's revenge is to set fire to it. However, Hans Landa practically destroys their plans. In general, Tarantino in the last novel received a worthy culmination of the whole previous phantasmagoria.

For reliability

Hans Landa in "Inglourious Basterds" is almost the most brilliant and amazing character. The role of Standartenfuhrer SS played a talented actor Christophe Waltz. The Austrian actor before the Tarantino project mostly played in television films ("Commissioner Rex", "Puppet Killer") and was known only in Germany and Austria. In the US until 2009, few knew about it. In the focus of film publicity and the audience, he came after participating in "Inglourious Basterds." For many colleagues it was a surprise when the actor who played Hans Landu was awarded the Golden Globe Award and the Cannes Festival prize.

Initially, the role of Hans planned to give Leonardo DiCaprio, but the director convinced the producer group that a Nazi officer should be played by a German actor. For at least this must be true. And then Christoph Waltz was invited, who justified the confidence of the director and played his role without exaggeration in a genius.

When the audience is delighted

From the skill of Christoph Waltz, the audience was delighted. About what Brad Pitt is capable of, many knew, and after watching a special shock were not experienced. But the appearance in the image of Hans Land, an almost unknown actor who literally from the first minutes of the timing surprised and interested all those watching, made a very serious impression.

Christophe of his character played extremely thinly. At first glance, Landa is a charming and gentle individual, who at the same time instills incredible fear and justified fears. Surprisingly, the hero is ostentatious gentleness, almost participation, achieves more than a threat of physical violence and torture. The character turned out unrivaledly unique, it's no wonder that he went down in the history of world cinema. By the way, in real life the actor's son is a rabbi.

Also striking is the fact that Waltz in the film speaks perfectly in four European languages: German, French, Italian and English. Not surprisingly, the actor duplicated his character in the German version of the film. Separate phrases of the character were divided into quotations. Hans Landa is one of the most frequently cited characters in the filmography of Quentin Tarantino, and "Inglourious Basterds" occupy 64 positions in the Top-250 on the IMDB. This is an undoubted success.
