How to draw a sword? Step-by-step instruction

Everyone knows for sure what he is, but how to draw a sword is not a simple task for many. In addition, this concept is very versatile.

What do we know?

There are different types of this cold steel, which was used primarily by knights. And the sword has always been an integral part of the martial arts of the East. Many antiquarians acquire crazy money for ancient blades. It is also a prestigious collection.

What does it consist of?

Thinking about how to draw a sword, you first need to imagine its design. And it consists of the main parts: the blade and the hilt (which includes the handle, the cross and the pommel).

The blade, in turn, is a blade, a dol and a shank. And the blade can be in the form of a lens, a hexagon or a diamond. The so-called dol serves as an edge of rigidity and as a way to lighten the sword. On the shank is usually planted a guard (cross), a handle and an apple (pommel).

A bit of history

The purpose of the guard is to prevent the hand from slipping to the sharp blade. Also protect the hands from the blows of the enemy. So that the guard did not move to the handle, it was supported by the wooden grips of the handle. At the top, another task is a support for the hand, so that when the sword is struck, the sword does not fly out. So is balancing. Recall that a long time before the advent of firearms (and after) the sword was the main outfit of soldiers of different countries. How to draw a sword? Now, when we roughly imagine the design of this weapon, you can proceed with the actual image of it.

How to draw a sword in stages

We will need paper, eraser, soft pencils.

Step 1

The sword is a symmetrical and geometric figure. However, this weapon has many forms, depending on the purpose and application. So first, decide which sword you want to draw: two-handed, straight, curved, short Greek or Oriental.

Step 2

Decide: will your sword be in the hands of a warrior or by itself? In the first case, first depict the figure, leaving in its hand a place for weapons. Then draw the sword itself.

Step 3

We will depict a two-handed knight's two-blade sword. It is symmetrical. The blade is long enough. The weapon itself is pretty heavy. Although rumors that some knightly swords reached in weight to fifty kilograms, are greatly exaggerated. As a rule, this kind of weapons weighed no more than ten, or even five kilograms.

Step 4

Draw a sword outline. To do this, in the center of the sheet we draw a long vertical (it is possible to incline) the line (blade). We cross it short horizontal (perpendicular) at the top. This is a guard. At the very top, we mark an apple in the form of a small circle. Determine with the width of our sword. Knight weapons are not very wide, but are sharpened from two sides. The blade is long and narrow. The handle is powerful. Garda in the form of a cross. By the way, the medieval sword of the era of knighthood and resembled a kind of cross, as if emphasizing the religiousness of the mission.

Step 5

Thinking about how to draw a sword with a pencil, we need to take care of the arms finish, because in many cultures it is a symbol. Often it was decorated with the arms and mottos of the clan. Also it is the ruler of justice, and also - an indicator of the mastery of the master, the owner. So, we proceed to finish our sword: erase unnecessary lines, add patterns, knight's coat of arms, carefully draw details. If desired, you can add a background, for example, red. In general, the steel gray tones are ideally suited to the drawing, which are perfectly transmitted by graphics: pencil, charcoal. Shading the shadows. It is necessary that our sword shone and sparkled in the sun! If you want, you can make the hilt multicolored. To do this, we use colored pencils. The weapons are ready for battle!
