How to determine the flat feet: find out the features

Many parents mistakenly believe that if a child has the right foot after birth, then the flat foot does not threaten him. But this disease can be both congenital and acquired. If the family has relatives with this ailment, the child has rickets, overweight or had leg injuries, then the parents should more closely monitor their baby, regularly show his orthopedist and know how to determine the flat feet. It is also necessary to carefully consider the choice of shoes, paying attention only to those that support the child's leg well and repeat the natural bending of the foot.

So, there are 3 types of deformation of the foot: longitudinal, transverse and combined. All these types of flatfoot are dangerous and lead to an increased load on the knee, hip joints, are the cause of problems with the back. After all, it's not for nothing that conscripts are not enlisted in the army if this illness is discovered. Experienced doctors even one look at the leg is enough to understand if there are problems, but it is still important to know how to determine flat feet at home. To do this, it is enough to leave an imprint of your foot: you can just put a wet foot on a sheet of paper, step on the wet sand on the beach, paint your foot with paint and make a mark.

If the heel is separately on the print, and the fingers or the track are completely flat without any bends, then the problem is obvious. With the transverse form of the foot becomes flattened, the transverse arch of the foot disappears. When longitudinal - it is stretched due to the alignment of the longitudinal arch. Some people have a mixed flat-footed view: both arches are flattened.

The first bells that should cause anxiety are: unusual rapid fatigue of the feet when walking or forced standing, increasing the length or width of the foot, swelling of the ankles. Changes are also noticeable in shoes: the heel and sole with flat feet are more erased from the inside. So, if you understand how to define flat feet, and will check yourself and your loved ones from time to time, you can avoid many problems.

You can also independently determine the degree of flatfoot. With slight deformation, the height of the longitudinal arch is still quite large and is at least 2.5 cm. The sign of flatness of the 2nd degree is the height of the arch of 17 to 25 mm, and if the gap between the floor and the highest part of the leg is no more than 17 mm, 3rd degree. The flat-footed flight causes the appearance of the so-called "bearish gait" and leads to arthrosis of the joints.

But just knowing how to define flat feet is not enough. If you have any suspicions, you need to consult an orthopedic doctor and perform all of his appointments. It does not matter what exactly caused this disease: trauma, rickets suffered, permanent stress on the legs, but prescribed by the doctor gymnastics and massage should be done constantly. It is also important to pay special attention to the choice of shoes (the model must necessarily be with a closed heel) and wear insole-suppinators that support the correct arch of the foot. If conservative methods of treatment are ineffective, surgery may even be required.
