How to crochet raglan: recommendations, options, schemes

One of several popular tricks that significantly simplifies the life of knitters, you can safely call a sleeve raglan. Hook it can be done in two ways: top and bottom. Any one of them can either be connected by an integral cloth with the details of the gear and the backrest, or be sewn from individual elements.

General principles of knitting the sleeves of raglan

The hook of raglan is easiest to knit from above. Thus, you can avoid the need to sew details and match the elements of the pattern. In addition, this method is very convenient with a limited amount of yarn. You can first bind the sleeves, and then use up the remaining yarn for the entire length of the product.

The hooks of raglan are knitted in the same way as with knitting needles: the details of the sleeves, the gears and the backs are successively shortened to form the same length of bevel. Angle of the bevel, as a rule, is 45 degrees, but there are a lot of exceptions.

If the Raglan crochet is crocheted from above, then the loops are added along the line of the raglan, otherwise the knits are shortened with knitting.

Correct formation of raglan when knitting from the bottom up

When planning such a way of decorating a product, you can go in two ways: to work in circular rows or to make all the details separately with subsequent stitching.

Cross-stitching raglan crochet (the layout of the details is suggested further) is performed with a successive reduction of each cloth on both sides.

It is undesirable to start the bevel from the very edge, it is better to make a small indent (2-3 cm). After stitching, these indents will allow you to move your hands more freely. Otherwise crocheted raglan can pull a little at hand.

Abbreviations are made in accordance with the pattern. This is a mandatory measure when working with raglan, as wrong skewers, errors or asymmetry will be very noticeable.

Abbreviations should be correlated with the pattern. For knitting raglan it is better to choose a scheme with small longitudinal rapports. An excellent example is the following patterns.

Making the right raglan means keeping in mind that the backrest part should be slightly longer than the gear, otherwise the front of the neck will crash into the neck, and the product itself can pull back. The difference in the height of the parts of the gear and the back are called the sprout. When knitting a sewing raglan it's easier to solve this issue by extending one of the lines of the raglan sleeves, and the second leaving it a little shorter. The short will be sewn to the front, and the long one to the back. This is perfectly illustrated by the following picture.

Raglan bound round the top

The execution of the circular raglan, bound from below, begins when the necessary details are prepared. Before, the backrest and the sleeves should be tied up to the armhole line. Incomplete parts can be retouched to other knitting needles or to a thick thread.

Then they must be transferred in the correct sequence to the circular knitting needles and continue working. Abbreviations for loops are made along the lines of raglan. As a rule, in each second row, one loop is removed from both sides of the parts. Thus, every two rows of the fabric is reduced by eight loops. But this rule is relevant only for continuous patterns, if you knit an openwork, the cuts are compared with the picture of rapports. To tie the sprout, the backrest detail is tied in shorter rows.

Raglan knitting from above

Knitting begins with a set of chains of air loops. Its length should be equal to the circumference of the neck.

With this method of registering raglan it is practically impossible to perform a sprout. The neck often looks the same for the details of the gear and the back, like this knitted blouse.

Expansion of the canvas begins from the very first row. As a rule, the entire circumference is divided into four equal parts. Sometimes they adhere to a different proportion: one-sixth of the hinges are allocated to each sleeve, the others are distributed between the front and the back.

Additions of loops are performed in the same way as the abbreviations described in the previous paragraph. It is advisable to observe the angle of 45 degrees and focus on the aesthetic appearance of the pattern when adding new rapports.

The formation of new loops occurs along the lines of raglan. They can include a different number of loops or bars: one to ten or more. Looks good crocheted raglan with a pattern along the line of addition.

Very well illustrates the formation of raglan following scheme.

Here we can clearly see how the formation of new rapports of the pattern occurs. After the extensions are completed, you should continue to work with partial knitting. The details of the transmission and the back are closed in a circular row and continue to knit down. Then they proceed to the manufacture of sleeves. They can be knit with an even cloth and then sewed or similarly worked in a circular manner.

Shutdown

At the end of the work, you should take care of the neckline, the line of the bottom and the sleeves of the product. A ready-made blouse or pullover-raglan crochet, the pattern and pattern do not matter, it should be stretched in warm water or steamed off with an iron. When choosing the latter method, do not put the iron on the product, because the cloth immediately becomes too soft and can stretch (if there is acrylic in the yarn).
