How to choose the right spotlights for stretch ceilings?

Stretch ceilings are good in that, as a rule, do not make special demands on lighting devices mounted on them. Mounting of chandeliers is carried out as to ordinary or made of gypsum board or suspended ceilings systems. And yet it is desirable that spotlights for stretch ceilings meet some special requirements, because they are mounted in such a way that most of the volume of their body is in the space between the base surface and the plane of the stretched film or matter. Visible is only the ring that surrounds the halogen bulb, and the glazing of the plafond.

The requirements to which point light fixtures for tension ceilings must correspond are not unique, they correspond to most lighting fixtures of this type. First, they should be round, at least, their "landing site". The decorative cover, that is, the frame of the plafond, can have any shape, but the features of the principle of the tension ceiling device require precisely a round shape.

Secondly, built-in luminaires for tension ceilings should be provided with a landing flange of at least a centimeter width. When installing the lighting fixture, it must be isolated from the surrounding material, that is, PVC film or cloth, otherwise they will undergo heating and may change their color. If the film ceiling, then more serious consequences are possible, for example, a violation of its integrity. For insulation use special rings of heat-resistant porous materials (that's them and that should cover the flange).

Thirdly, spotlights for stretch ceilings should have light insulation of the inside of the case, otherwise the rays entering the space above its plane will shine through it, creating parasitic halos. This, of course, is not too terrible a defect, but it is more beautiful when the light comes from where it should be.

Fourth, the height of the recessed luminaire should not be large. The smaller it is, the higher it is possible to raise the stretch ceiling, and this is sometimes very important (especially in standard apartments).

Mounting to the base surface is carried out by means of an adjustable rack.

Spotlights for stretch ceilings can have a simple design (with a stationary direction of illumination) or more complex (to give the light flux a certain direction). The latter are equipped with a rotary mechanism, and have one more advantage - an additional area of the heat sink. Therefore, the power of the bulb, permissible for use in rotary lamps, is somewhat larger than for stationary ones.

Lamps for stretch ceiling can be designed for different light sources, incandescent lamps or halogen bulbs. The voltage of their supply can also be different (12 or 220 volts AC).

If the lamp is halogen, then, as a rule, an individual or group step-down transformer is required . Its power should be selected taking into account the total load and some margin.
