Honey storage in the home: basic rules

The usefulness of honey is known to everyone, since this natural product has medicinal properties. It is used for various diseases as an additional treatment.   • The room should be well ventilated, and at the same time on the honey should not fall direct rays of the sun. Therefore it is better to use opaque containers.

Since this product is highly hygroscopic, it can quickly absorb moisture from the environment and other substances. As a consequence, storage of honey in the refrigerator is not recommended.

Honey in honeycomb can be stored as long as desired. Fungi and mold are destroyed by substances contained in the product itself and natural "packagings". In this case, the optimal conditions that prescribe the rules for storing honey are as follows: temperature - about 5 ° С, humidity - about 60%.

It is noted that honey can absorb moisture from the environment, even in closed vessels, with a vapor level in the air of more than 70%. If the value of this indicator is below 30%, then the product, on the contrary, releases water particles.

It is forbidden to contain honey at a temperature above 15 ° C, since in this case acid reactions begin to occur in its composition. And when heated to 40 ° C, vitamins and other substances are destroyed, and the natural product itself loses its healing properties.

It is better to store honey at home under optimal conditions. In this case, the product will not lose its useful qualities, due to which it is such a valuable product of "natural masters" - bees.
