Hibernation and sleep

Instead of turning off the computer, you can put it into sleep mode, as well as into hibernation mode. This will allow you to reduce the time it takes to turn on, which every day is spent loading the operating system. Together with time, you can often save yourself the nerves that are wasted when waiting for the download. I will tell you in detail about each mode.

Let's start with sleep mode. When it is used, the system saves in memory all running processes, as well as programs, and goes into power saving mode.

The next is hibernation. When you turn it on, absolutely all the information that is in the RAM is written to the hard drive, and the computer is completely turned off. When you turn it on, all the data that was saved on the disk before turning it off is recorded in the main memory. The system will boot much faster than after the standard shutdown. The analogue of the hibernation of Windows 7 is the Windows XP sleep mode.

Now let's look at the activation methods. For laptops, the best solution is to close the lid and then go to sleep. The consumption of electricity in this case will not be significant at all. After opening the cover, the operating system will be restored instantly, after which you can immediately continue to work with the device. And if the laptop will not be used for a long time, then it's worth including hibernation. In this case, the energy consumption will be zero.

When the battery power of the portable device that will be in sleep mode is completely consumed, the system will automatically go into hibernation mode.

Activating the sleep mode while closing the laptop cover is set using the settings. In the control panel, go to the "Power" section and assign the actions that will be performed after closing the device cover.

As for the stationary computer, the main requirement is that it should be permanently connected to the power grid. This requires both a hibernation regime and a hybrid one.

The computer is able to quickly recover in hybrid mode. You can start work immediately after you press the power button. By the way, to turn on the PC after the sleep mode can be any button on the keyboard or mouse. This is specified in the settings. If the power of the device is lost, which will be in hybrid mode, the system will automatically return to the previous state during the next power-up, since all necessary data remains on the disk.

In the power settings you can set the transition of the desktop to sleep by pressing the power button that is on the system. Hibernate mode can be activated in the same way.

And in order to use the hybrid sleep mode, it is necessary to change the parameters in the power plan settings. To do this, select "Dream" in the pop-up window, then tick the "Allow hybrid mode" line. Now, together with the sleeping mode, this one will be launched.
