"Green Grove" in Yekaterinburg: history and legends

Yekaterinburg Park "Green Grove" is a quiet place for unhurried walks in the shadow of age-old trees, children's games, cycling, scooter or roller skates. But many of those who aspire to find out where the "Green Grove" is located in Yekaterinburg are heading here for a share of thrills - in fact, here is the most mysterious abandoned building of the city.

Park "Green Grove"

"Green Grove" - one of the most comfortable and peaceful parks of the city, occupying an area of 24 hectares. 70% of the trees here are 140-150-year-old pines, so it's not uncommon to meet friendly squirrels. The remaining 30% are deciduous, mass planted in the 1930s. In 2008 the park was recognized as a specially protected zone of local importance.

In addition to the building of the abandoned hospital, the "Green Grove" boasts the Novo-Tikhvinsky Women's Monastery (founded in 1796) located on its territory, as well as the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in close proximity. In the park itself you can find a lot of shops, pavilions, children's and sports grounds, a small football field.

Address "Green Grove": Ekaterinburg, Leninsky district, st. Green Grove, 1. Landmark: crossing the streets of Narodnaya Volya, Sheikman and Bolshakov. Coordinates on the map: 56.82188 N, 60.59615 E The park is open around the clock.

History of the Monastery Grove

The second name of the park ("Monastery Grove") is directly related to its history. By the decree of Alexander I the territory of the future PKiO was transferred to the Novo-Tikhvinsky Monastery. Some part of the grove was given to the monastery cemetery, the other part served as a city park. Nuns, it is worth noting, kept the territory in perfect condition.

After the revolution, the "Green Grove" in Yekaterinburg was left without a master - the monastery was liquidated. In 1929 the monastery cemetery suffered - it was completely leveled with the ground - in its place planned to build a zoo. But later it was decided to build this complex in a different place.

The territory of the former city park "Green Grove" was home to Lespromfaka UPI organizations: a dendrological nursery and a botanical garden, a pond experimental farm and a fox kennel. Over time, all these institutions "migrated" to other locations, and in 1949 the territory of the park housed the Regional Youth Station.

It was thanks to the young naturalists and their teachers that the "Green Grove" in Yekaterinburg was replenished with Siberian cedars, blue fir, larch and a number of ornamental plants. Do not forget the young people care about pre-Soviet plantations. The guys, like the nuns, supported their garden in an exemplary condition for about 60 years.

Today the territory of the Monastery Grove is gradually decreasing under the advent of new residential complexes and other facilities, whose construction was permitted in 2002.

History of an abandoned hospital

Today it is difficult to recognize in the faceless skeleton of this structure from old postcards, in the style of which the avant-garde and neoclassicism so harmoniously echoed. The history of the hospital in the "Green Grove" of Yekaterinburg began in 1932. Then she was a hospital of the NKVD. In 1939, it was redesigned for civilians, and in 1943 it became the Central Hospital Clinical Complex. In 1953, they merged with the advanced polyclinic service. After a quarter of a century, the hospital acquired its last focus - became the City Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medical Care.

Since no major repairs were made to the building, it was already quite old by the time of perestroika. But only in 2000 it was decided to a large-scale restoration - the hospital departments were disbanded at other clinics in the city. Repairs on the plans should take about five years. However, it was not started: the building was not even preserved. Unprotected and open to all comers, it survived several fires.

An abandoned hospital these days

An abandoned hospital in the "Green Grove" of Ekaterinburg can be found at: ul. March 8, 78 (intersection of Bolshakov streets - March 8). However, it is worthwhile to be cautious - the building became a shelter for marginal elements.

The fate of the building today is very uncertain. He is recognized as a well-deserved monument of architecture, but nobody can restore the hospital. In November 2006 he was put up for auction. However, no applications from buyers have been received.

Visitors are attracted to this wonderfully preserved cleanliness. The hospital does not sink in garbage, like buildings similar to it. Its walls are dotted with a lot of curious graffiti, some of which can claim the title of a work of street art. Attract thrill-seekers and rumors about underground passages and floors - the last should be 4 levels.

Legends of an Abandoned Hospital

Many Yekaterinburg residents can tell legends connected with the unlucky building. For example, the most exciting of them:

  • In the cellars of the hospital, the madmen were kept from Chernobyl, where the poor were tortured and subjected to terrible experiments. At level "-1" can really see a large cage. They say that next to her there is a feeling that someone is standing or walking around someone invisible.
  • The legend of the white man. This is a story about a girl who decided to wander around the hospital alone. During the campaign, she suddenly met on her way a tall man in all white. The stranger terrified the researcher - she rushed to run, where the eyes look. However, the pursuer eventually overtook the poor thing. When she was found, a huge scar was found on her body. Her blood tests for some reason became ideal. Probably because a man in white is really the head of the department of hemodialysis who committed suicide.
  • A time room. Somehow miraculously, young people found a room in the hospital, not marked on the map - their mechanical watches attracted their attention, which, despite everything worked. One of the guys went out to study other branches, and the other guy stayed indoors. For about three minutes. But in reality he stayed there for three days. But the guys were not able to find the mysterious room again.

"Green Grove" in Yekaterinburg is a universal place of rest: here you can walk along shady alleys, and get acquainted with religious buildings, and, if you want, visit a mysterious abandoned hospital.
